The Kurzweil system of adding 'layers' (parts) is the best I've tried - if you need a sound, just add a zone. Each zone is instantly playable from the internal keyboard and you don't need to worry about triggering stuff accidentaly. There are quite a few quirks in that system, but the basic idea is brilliant. Used on a touchscreen that could adapt font sizes to the number of parts you use, you'd be able to instantly see what you are using and perhaps in more detail. I seldom use more than 8 parts on the Kronos anyway, and doubling their size on the display would be helpful.

But if you're doing a combi without the need for KARMA, but, say, doing some splits and layers for live performance, having them all on 1G is helpful.

In case you are using one keyboard: yes. On the other hand, it only does take 15 secs or less to change them down:
- select the first timbre
- move the value slider fully down
- select the next (with the cursor key)
- repeat for all

then save the patch to a new location to serve as default for future patches.
