Hello guys, please help me
I can’t figure out MIDI setting.
So question concerning MIDI connections
I want to connects via MIDI My instruments are 3 intruments: Korg 01W ProX, Kronos 61k, M3 Rack.
Main controller shall be : Korg 01W ProX with 88 weighed keys, which shall control both Kronos and M3 (but to this point, I know how to connect that).
But since M3 is in rack version, and Kronos 61k ideally communicates and matches M3 settings (eg. such buttons as SW1, 2, are already communicated, also Kronos has useful ribbon contro ller) therefore I want also Kronos to control M3. Another words, is it possible to have such setup, that I play on ProX as main controller, using the sounds of M3, but additionally I can modulate or control the sound of M3 using the controllers from Kronosa (for example Ribbon, SW1, 2)?
I have tried various combinations of connections , but I have never managed to get to result I wanted. So either ProX controls Kronos, or M3. Eventually Kronos controls M3. But is it possible to have such MIDI setup, so ProX would control M3, and in the same time Kronos would control M3?
Thanks for your help and advice.
Greetings from Poland
Mike

Hi Mike,

just a question, but a little bit off-topic...is there any special reason why you want to keep the M3 Rack? I used the M50 and it was really easy to rebuild the HD-1 sounds with the Kronos, so I was able to get rid of the M50 in my setup. I also noticed that most of the programms are identical. Sometimes just the names varied a little bit. M50 and M3 are nearly identical from the programm side.

Why I keep M3 - well, I am going to sell it, but first I want to save all my material i made on it , and well, not easy to find a buyer here, so for the time being I just wanted to take advantege of haveing both. Sorry, maybe I place that post in wrong section, so maybe Operator can advice me where to place such question, since it does not maybe apply directly to Kronos, but general Midi connections.
Greetings
Mike

sorry, I did not mean that your question is off-topic...I meant my question is off-topic because it doesn't answer your question Smile

You need a MIDI merger (MIDI Solutions makes such a device).

This device will take two (or more) MIDI signals and merge them together, say a 01Wfd and Kronos (MIDI Outputs) and allow you yo control a M3 Rack (MIDI Input).

My Favorite device in this catagory was the JL Cooper MSB+rev2. an 8 midi cable router/patcher, with 2 processor functions that could be used as a merger.

Thanks JPWC
So I can not do it just by combination of MIDI in , out, through on keyboards I guess. Well, I have Midi Patch Bay Roland A880 - but it is more like just cros-over for input-output signals, with no merge functions. I mean I can have one in and few outs, but unfortunately no two ins to one out.
Thanks for your reply.
Greetings

A MIDI patchbay should solve that problem. My old Akai ME30PII alliows you to merge TWO of the inputs so that TWO separate devices can control any other device.

EG - I used to merge a hardware sequencer and a master keyboard so that they could both share and control rack mount sound modules at the same time. A simple MIDI merge box would do a similar thing as I don't think there are many MIDI patchbays around at the moment.

Are you sure that the Roland A880 will not MERGE any of the inputs to selected outputs????

I see you are from Europe: if Thomann works for you: MIDI solutions has simple MIDI merge devices.
