|
|
I use a Half Damper pedal on my Yamaha PS120, And I've used one on my M3. The half damper pedal doesn't quite feel the same on the Kronos as it does on those other keyboards. Like it's not doing anything any different that open close circuit.
What is the primary performance and audible difference when using a half damper pedal? Compared to a traditional open closed foot switch. _________________

I don't have my Kronos yet, but the manual says that the DS-1H half-damper pedal is automatically sensed when connected but that you do have to calibrate the pedal (on page Global P0) and set the polarity (page Global P2). Just like on the PS120 and M3, if you lift your foot slowly off the half-damper pedal, the sound should "die out" or release more gradually than it does if you lift your foot quickly, just like on a "real" piano. The voice has to be set up for this, too, but I would assume that all Kronos piano voices already are. And you can't use a Yamaha half-damper pedal without modification; it's not connected the same as the DS-1H.

I'm using the Korg DS-1H on my Kronos. _________________

Half-damper may modulate release times; see 1–1f: Half-Damper Control under Program P1–1: Program Basic. This can be enabled or disabled for each Program.
Pedal velocity, which requires a half-damper, also controls the Damper Noise in the SGX-1. _________________ Dan Phillips

Yes, same here. It seemed a good idea to use the recommended one. _________________ Rhodes 73 Mk1; Kronos 88; Synthex; Electribe EMX-1; Motif XS Rack; Yamaha DX7IIFD; Yamaha MM8; Roland Alpha Juno-2; Roland JV-2080; Tascam FW-1884. |
