We are in a band and trying to figure out how to set up the Korg to play sounds in a certain order by placing them into some sort of list, then selecting the list and hitting "next" (or whatever) to get to the next sound.
We just want a quick and easy way to select different sounds quickly so we don't have to wait while the sound is being manually set. Obviously we are new to Korg so the simpler the better. We tried the manual but it just isn't working for us. any quick and simple ideas?

You should have some blank program or combi slots in one of the banks, the studio has enough so that finding locations should not be a problem.

Decide which mode you want to be in (program or combi).

Select the sound you want first.

Write that sound -- when prompted, select a blank location (i.e., K000) as the destination. Save. Say yes when asked "are you sure".

Repeat for next sound and location (i.e., K001, K002..., etc.).

-------------------

If you want to use a mix of programs and combinations you will ewant to stay in combi mode. You can copy programs & their FX to a combi location fairly easily. Make sure you bring the correct FX and settings up as well as the program or it will sound different.

---------------

You can use the increment buttons (+/-) to move through the list in order.

You can also assign the foot switch, under the global menu for controllers, to perform either +1 or -1 (not both).

So ultimately you'll have an ordered list that you can step through using up/down or foot control in one continuous set without ever touching the number buttons or touchscreen.

TIP #1 : if you do this, re-name the combis to the song title so you know if what you select is correct.

TIP #2 : Practice moving through list before trying to do it live. Make sure you know how to move in both directions.

TIP #3 : If you call up the bank that contains the list on the touch screen, you can select voices within that bank by touching the name (one push) -- DON'T PUSH ENTER! -- the bank will stay up and you can select any voice on the list in any order you like.

Thanks again billbaker! We were able to set up the 5 most played sounds in our set and put them in the first 5 program slots. That will be HUGE for us to be able to start playing the next song immediately rather than waiting for our keyboardist to set up.

The only thing I couldn't figure out was how to change the name from the name of the sound being used to the name of the song.

chgordon,

The name change is a function of the write(save) -- in the same way that you can change the location when writing you can also save the program or combi with a new name. Write allows a "save as" in addition to the "save to" that you've successfully used; just highlight the patch name in the bottom half of that write page and you can edit it the same as location.
