Can anyone send me the PA3x styles, if you can use your pa3x to export the style as midi data, and then send me the midi data, I will edit so that it will play on a PA2x..

As long as raw midi data is used, and I strip sysex data, the rest is just note a patch data which can edit on my PC...they won;t soudn EXACTLY like the PA3, but close...

Oh, ONLY the different styles...ones that are just re-hashed PA2x styles on the PA3 I don't need..

Send me a PM if you can help out...

Cheers

Hi Dennis,
may not be quite as simple as you hope.
Guitar mode 2 is different to guitar mode 1 in that, a track can contain midi notes as well as guitar mode notes.
Might make editing just atad more difficult.

I must be going silly, I thought you actually had a pa3x.

Hi Rikki,

Yeah I did...long story and too personal for here...but I now have a PA2 x back again..

And yes the gtr mode 2 is different, but I am really only after midi note data to be honest...and even then ONLY the styles that Korg did not rework for the PA3, just the new ones...as I recall there were a couple of goodies amongst them...

Hi Dennis,
sorry to hear that.

Haven't tried exporting pa3x style as midifile ( I've been busy with stuff not involving my keyboards), but,
if memory serves me correctly,
exporting style as a midifile, leaves guitar mode notes intact.
Only way to change a guitar mode note to a midifile note, would be to record the style as a midifile in the sequencer. This I believe turns the guitar mode notes into midi notes.

I'm tied up over Xmas, if you happen to remember what one of the styles was, you liked , I'll check it out if I get a chance.

Hi Dennis,
absolutely beautiful weather here at the moment. I think it's a bit further north & a bit more inland that's copped it to date.

When I get a chance , I'll check out differences between guitar mode 1 & 2, & maybe I might be able to work out a bit of a fix for you, or at least make you aware of potential problems.

Still have my PA800, so might help.

Have a merry xmas.

Thanks Rikki,

From my recollection of GTR mode II, there was not a great deal of difference between how it worked on the PA2 and how it works on the PA3...

Apart from the obvious sysex data generated on-board...I have a feeling, with the midi data available I might be able to do something....

Very glad to hear the yucky weather is further north, you guys around the Hunter, Newcastle and surrounds seem to cop it a bit during summer!!!

.
Dennis & Rikki

Since I create styles for my commercial collections this operation was handled
during summer and some pretty new styles of pa3X were transfer to Pa2X therefore
I can describe you a few tips of midi transfer issues to help you experiment.

- Exporting SMF you simply transfer midi notes played in Guitar mode not the actual
resulting guitar strumming and in first audition Track is muted because note
mapping is different in GTmode 1 & 2 , and if not higher note Fx are used ,either
extra solo guitar notes (GTmode2 allows also extra GT notes) then an octave transpose
might recover a simply written GTmode2 track.

- Exporting SMF has as reference mostly in C key and factory tracks are written to various
keys so you have to investigate tonality for every acc track and change keys for
every single variation & CV to the correct one ,and this might became difficult for
complex harmony styles like Jazz.

- New Drumkits & percussions of Pa3X have a different key mapping and especially
new percussion kits are totally new samples therefore result can't be even close
since you haven't similar sounds for midi events.

For all these reasons I had to recreate all new important styles in Pa2X.

wish you the best and Merry Christmas.

Thanks Antony...good info, and sounds like good advice...it is similar to information I have been finding out since making the request.

I think we may have to abandon the idea altogether..

Thanks Antony,
had a horrid feeling Dennis may not have found it as simple to do as he'd hoped. I was aware that there were differences between Guitar Mode 1 & 2, mainly the fact that there could be normal midi notes as well as guitar mode notes in the same track. Not possible in Guitar Mode 1.

Hadn't even gotten round to considering what other differences there could be.

Thank you, I think you may have saved us a lot of work for a not very good result.
