Hi Michel !

I have a small issue with your software: If I open a PCG File and highlight and delete, let´s say the 50 first entries, it deletes the programm names, but not the underlaying settings... Could you maybe put a function into your software, wich offers replacement of programm by an empty one - means, if I highlight some programms, press "Replace" it overwrites the programm places with an empty programm and not, like it is with the "Delete" Button, that it just erases the program name, but not the settings...

Cheers
Garfield

Hello Garfield, yes this is already in the wish list or issue list (not sure right now), thus a known issue.

I also rather would have a real 'init' or 'replace' option as you suggest, however it is not that simple as you might think.

For all supported models (Triton Karma, Triton TR/Rack, Studio, Extreme, M50, M3, Oasys, Kronos) these programs are different and even then it differs depending on the bank (MOSS, HD1 or EXi). I would have to store for all these programs AND combis (and for Kronos set lists too) an init 'template' patch. I will not say it is impossible, but it is not something like a few hours of work. But yes, it is on my list to do, I just have so many other things to do.

EDIT (added): My first opinion was that it is easier to have empty patch names than patch names with an 'init program xxx' name, it is far easier to skip those in a glance in the patch overview on the Kronos. Even if those patches are not init does not matter that much; you always can initialize them yourself.

Also by using the Compact command you can immediately remove all programs, combis or set list slots to make space at the end. Also if you select multiple banks you can immediately create empty banks (by clearing unwanted patches first).

Cheers,

Michel

Today the 300th user requested PCG Tools.

Thanks for all the nice emails, tips, improvement ideas, bug reports and help to create it.

michel,

I know you have been asked one hundred times, but is there no future for a Mac Version?
I was just checking the Oasys Sticky's as Daz had an Oasys Librarian for the mac, but apparently he pulled everything down?

Maybe Korg's Librarian for Kronos will do the trick? Thanks..

Hello Lou,

No problem about re-asking.

Actually there is a future. I cannot port my app (PCG Tools) to a Mac version, however Mathieu Maes is developing a version based on PCG Tools (using shared code), called PCG Tools for Web. More information can be found at the following link:

http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=68526

It is web based, and thus not dependent on a specific operating system. Its functionality is limited yet but I am sure it will have more functionality in future.

Thanks michel, yes currently only for Set List functionality.
I waited this long, so a litle longer is no problem.

Hey Lou,

Development has been slow lately because of a busy schedule, but if you let me know what features you require, I can give those priority...

I added a new item to the wish list:

NEW FUNCTIONALITY: Auto Renamer
Because it is hard to see which programs are used in a combi/setlist while playing the Kronos, mark all names automatically with a special symbol (or remove the mark when not being used in a combi/set list anymore).
Rough estimation: week

However, I am very busy with rearranging my code. I probably need a few more weeks and then later also once in a while some weeks. I want to continue with adding features within 2 or 3 weeks from now. The one I was busy with before I decided to rearrange was SNG file support so I am going to continue with that. After that I will pick up the one above and others.

So it will be quiet for at least a few weeks more probably. Maybe I bring out a version in between with some small improvements though.

Just a status report this time.

I have good and bad news. Let's start with the good news: I am completely restructuring the application, making it future proof, i.e. when I add new features I will have a better possibility to test them (and to test old functionality has not broken). Also the code will be more clear, for others to use them (e.g. Mathieu Maes for the web version of PCG Tools).
Another thing is I learned a lot about the software programming environment I'm using which makes me a better software engineer.

The bad news: I think I need at least another 3 weeks or more to have a running version again. End even after that, I need to add a lot of test code (but that does not have to be implemented right away, I can do it in stages). The real bad news is that you will not notice any difference, except maybe some fixed bugs (and hopefully no new created).

But the most important thing I want to write is that allthough there haven't been updates during the last weeks and probably not during the next weeks, I have not stopped spending time into PCG Tools and it seems I will not stop for at least some amount of time either.

I will start on adding functionality for SNG file format when the app is up and running again.

Also I am planning later to make an almost completely new user interface with docking windows instead of the current floating windows (but don't pin me on this). I even will not write it on the wish list yet.

I noticed on at least one location that PCG Tools was available for download.

Please do not upload a copy of PCG Tools to any website, although it is a free app. The reason is that updates cannot be spread when people downloaded the app in such way.

Everybody who passes their email I will give the latest version including updates.

Kind regards,

Michel

I'm sorry for all generic mails I have to send to people requesting the applications lately.

I get about 2 to 3 requests daily lately during the last month so I just can't reply everybody personally except for sending the application including some generic instructions/and remarks.

Hope you understand ... I am still busy making the app ready for more future enhancements.

Kind regards,

Michel

Hello Michel,

I have some issues when copy/pasting combis. What I want to do is rearrange a set of combis to match a gig playlist. Now what I did, is open the same pcg file twice. It contains also all programs needed in the combis. I checked 'Copy incomplete Combis', 'Copy duplicate Programs and combis', and 'overwrite programs and combis'.
When I copy a combi and paste it on another slot, I see that the programs remain on the clipboard.

Which are the boxes to be check when I want to rearrange combis within the same pcg?

Thanks in advance,

Tokke

If you want to reorganize patches (programs/combis) in the same PCG file, don't open it twice because it will be seen as two different PCG files.

Then if you copy programs/combis and paste them, automatically the programs which are already existing are not needed to paste again (they will be removed from the copy/paste buffer after pasting the combis).
