Video Tutorial: 03 Using the Sequencer for recording combis

Post by QuiRobinez »

I've got multiple requests if i could do a quick tutorial about how to use the sequencer for recording combis. So here it is :)
I hope you like it and can use this very easy to follow technique to multi record your own combi performances.

Tutorial: 03 Using the Sequencer for recording combis

When you use a combi on the Korg Kronos and have found a great riff to use with that combi you often want to quickly record that riff to jam along with it or use it with your band.

It's very easy to create a X bar pattern based on your combi when using the sequencer. This tutorial shows you how to do this.

You can find the video here:

For reference purposes, here are the other 2 tutorials

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Tutorial: 02 Clusters - How to program Polyphonic Arpeggiators in KARMA

Step by step explanation of using Clusters in KARMA arpeggiators. This is an intermediate level tutorial that assumes that you know the basics from KARMA programming as explained in tutorial 1 in my channel.

After watching this video you should be able to create polyphonic arpeggiators and know how to assign new KARMA functions to the Scene switches and change the Rythmic multiplyer of an arpeggiator.

So I hope you like it and can use KARMA in a better way after watching the video.

Tutorial: 01 KARMA Introduction - How to program your first KARMA GE Arpeggiator for Trance Music for absolute beginners
Step by step explanation of the most basic parameters of building a KARMA Trance Arpeggiator. After watching this video you should be able to create basic KARMA arp patterns yourself.

Thank you for another great and clear video.

The first half was known, the rest not completely but it is very fun to make such a quick jamming sequence.

Wonderful work.

An inspiration to us all.

Thanks again.

I spent today re-arranging my whole studio.

This is the icing on the cake.

Thanks for posting Qui.
Even though familiar with the procedure, I never used the Loop function. It's a great tool for preparing loops and flying them into Ableton Live. Nice!

Is it possible to add two combis into the sequencer....if they both my use say....4-8 programs and not the full 16? Can you tell the combi to load into slots 1-4 or 7-10,etc.... Or when you tell it to record, does. It auto assign to all tracks 1-16?

I don't think this is possible ... you might copy them from the programs one by one ... seems to be a functionality to add to PCG Tools eventually :-)

Somewhere there is a video explaining this.
Basically, you record your combi, and then record it to two channels in the Audio Track Mixer.
Then you can bring in another combi (Midi) and do the same again and again..

You cannot bring in two separate combis into the Sequencer simultaneously.

yes, that's the way to do it.

The motif XS/XF has a better way to do it, there you can assign each timbre to a different destination timbre. The kronos can only assign one combi where all 16 timbres are copied to the sequencer.
