|
|
Hi,
I have just bought a Kronos and would like to use some sounds from my Triton Studio in the Kronos.
I understand I can use the software Extranslator to do this.
My question is, how do I get the sounds from the Triton onto my pc with the Extranslator software on?
Can I save the sounds onto a CD in the Triton's CDR and then put them onto my laptop ?
If not how do I connect the Triton to my Laptop ~(windows vista) ?
Is there a SCSI - USB lead available?
Could someone talk me through taking one sound from the Triton through the Extranslator and onto the Kronos step by step?
Many thanks if you can help I would be most grateful,
Paul |

If you are talking about factory sounds/samples (not your own samples) then you can't save or copy them directly. You basically have to sample them with your computer (or the Kronos for that matter) and then rebuild the program. It's a pretty lengthy process and you'll end up with sounds that probably still won't be entirely identical to the original ones you intended. While some software can automate part of the process, some expertise is still required in getting the samples to loop correctly, and it can be quite frustrating to get even ONE sample to loop properly, let alone a multisample or a bunch of sounds, or building it back into your program later.
Much nicer to spend the time learning your new board and program new sounds, in my humble opinion. If you absolutely have to have a few sounds from the Triton and you can't find them on the Kronos, remember that most samples in the Triton have equivalents in the Kronos HD1 engine. You could try finding samples to match and then adapt the program parameters to match too. The latter you would have to do anyway even if you got the actual samples from the Triton. |

Hi,
many thanks for your reply, I appreciate you taking the time out to answer my question.
I guess I knew it wouldn't be an easy task lol. I think the easiest way that you suggest would be to sample the Triton directly into the Kronos.
Or like you say, spend some time learning how to replicate the sounds with the Kronos.
I'm going to roll my sleeves up and get stuck in.
Thanks again,

When you try to replicate them on the Kronos it has some advantages:
- You learn the Kronos engines
- You probably have a better sound (you can tweak them to your current likings)
- When you don't sample but recreate or model them you have more and easy possibilities to tweak them.
Good luck and enjoy your Kronos. _________________
