I have noticed that very often the bottom voice of a chord drops out. I play a six note chord, 3 notes in each hand, and you don't hear the left hand pinkey note. This is really bothering me. Is anyone else experiencing this ?

Yeah, I've had this problem. It seems to be ok when you play all the notes hard but when you want to play with some expression it happens often. For me some notes, particularly in the LH sound a dull thud.
It's annoying but I'll put up with it 'cause it only happens every now & then.
Also, have you played around with the touch sensitivity? I think maybe if you've got it set to 6 or 7 that might also be a problem. Take it back to 5 & see if the problem continues.

I have figured out what is causing this. It's not a voice cancellation, it's a voice(s) Dropping. The keyboard switch that triggers a note on then off has a VERY short throw near the bottom of the stroke. Play a note then very slowly and controlled let key rise up and you will notice that note shuts off very near the bottom of the key stroke almost immediately as you start the upward rise. You would think that the key should rise and then near the top of the stroke where key stops note should stop. So if you hold a 3 note chord down and your weak pinky lets the top voice key rise just a little bit, the note drops and the chord now only sounds two voices. This is very annoying. Normally on most electronic keyboards there is a more forgiving range and the note would still sustain even if a finger relaxed a bit and let key rise a tad. I wonder if there is a mod or an adjustment. I used this test on other synths including a Radias and the key travels further up before a note is stopped.

Very cool Rexy.....that's it! Just another issue with the sv1. I've used mine on many gigs now after having downloaded the 2nd sound bank & tweaking them to what I thought was acceptable only to find that the acoustic sounds ,all bar maybe one that's acceptable, are less than adequate. The electric sounds, in particular the Rhodes is great. I play trio jazz, maybe the sv1 sounds just aren't cut out for it. I played in a country band though & it sounded quite acceptable.
I wanna sell mine as soon as I can & buy a PC3K8 Kurzweil.
Good bit of detective work finding out the issue with the sv1......if you do know of anyone who wants to buy a slightly used SV1.....?? Smile

You are right! Today I have tested several keyboards, and can only agree that the RH3 have an very odd key off point. The RH3 has the key off position only 1/4 up from depressed position. Shocked

Real pianos have their key off point 4/5 up from depressed position. Even my organ have this key off position.
Most of the midi boards I have tested have their key off position 3/4 up from depressed position.

I am getting a new Black SV1-73 from Korg to replace my current Red. In another post I have mentioned that one of the piano samples has a pop in the waveform that is audible. Korg has determined I have a factory defect. I am hoping the key bed will not be the same on the new Black sv1, but if it is I will keep readjusting my technique. I have found that I have to use sustain pedal more than usual to assist legato playing.

I'm just not happy with the acoustic piano sounds on the sv1. I've got the 2nd pack & Eq'd them using the software but they're still not good. They aren't at all pleasant sounding speshly when playing jazz & nor are they realistic one bit. That doesn't make me happy at all!!! I think I'll try another run on them using a mates PA instead of head phones. I'll see how we go. But, that's a really bad blue on behalf of Korg as far as the sample pop goes & also the keybed dramas. I really hope that your black one is much better. I'd have a go at fixing the keybed letoff problems myself if we could get some sort of word on it from Korg. I'm mid way through an album of my friends stuff & the piano sounds are unusable off the Korg & we have to use his software sounds...... they're great sounds anyway. (Reason Record)
