What color will they be, because they are a different collor in every rendering. |
For good reason too....
They will be whatever colour you want them to be.
There’s a series of lights behind the lettering that you can adjust to your own taste. How cool is that

Sharp.

A bit of LED? Nice. You pre-program that and it stays that way or you can program scenes for it? Just out of curiosity, as this is seriously cool. _________________ Check out http://it-review.net. Reviews and news - hardware, software and musical instruments.

Yep, never the same color twice!! James got it right I'll fill in a few more details about the front panel.
The "Open Studio Live" lettering is engraved on the reverse of clear acrylic, lit from below by 6 "hidden" multicolor LED's. The coloring and intensity of the lighting is used as a visual clue when rotary controls are adjusted and the color codes inputs and outputs are selected. When adjusting e.g. the "red" signals, the LED's change color to "red" and the left/right panning is indicated by appropriate changes in intensity by splitting the lighting into two groups of 3 LED's. The music note symbol's lighting is modulated by the HDD activity and main processor board activity signals, so the color changes accordingly.
When the user is not adjusting the controls, the LED's are assigned for use as MIDI activity status indicators, just so you can see visually if MIDI In and MIDI Out is active. This is a useful feature when a new MIDI controller or MIDI keyboard is plugged in. You will see the LED's changing color when you press notes or operate sliders etc.
My son Paul is developing the front panel software right now. It uses the Arduino development tools and we will be releasing the source code under GPL license terms via the Arduino forums. Customers and developers may under GPL terms modify the software, and release updates that implement new functions in future. We use a Seeed Studio RainbowDuino module coupled with a proprietary "shield" board and proprietary front panel I/O board. The I/O board interfaces to rotary encoders and RGB LED's and also to the motherboard HDD and power status signals. Here is one example of a Rainbowduino in use:
http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/rainbow-cube-kit-assembled-p-998.html?cPath=138
Bands, individuals and OEM companies may substitute their own Acrylic panel in place of the supplied "Open Studio Live" panel. The CAD/CNC drawings are released on request for those wanting a custom version.

Say - for example - someone wants to put his band name or something there. Would you be willing to do that as well? Sounds like a perfect little spot for user creativity which I'll bet users will love. _________________ Check out http://it-review.net. Reviews and news - hardware, software and musical instruments.

It's quite easy to organise it yourself. I supply you the 3D CAD Sketchup drawing, you add your band's logo, take the drawing to your local machine shop, and bingo! For some time to come Corcyra will be very busy meeting the expected demand for the standard unit, so a bit of self help will be needed. I expect a few machine shops will start to offer custom panels as a standard service. |

It is all still progressing really well...doing some final tweaks to the software bundle for full system testing and about to start work on the style package.

OK here's some news:
Our first cabinet from the CNC company production line was received on Friday 2nd Feb, we are now assembling it. It looks just like James' 3D modeled versions, probably because they were both engineered from the same master drawings
Once we have it built up, we are demonstrating it in the meetings with potential investors in London in the week 20th to 23rd Feb. On 24th Feb I have a meeting at the PCB manufacturing factory in the UK where PCB prototypes are in production now.
Then by the end of Feb we will post pictures of the first fully assembled cabinet, and by the end of March we expect to post pictures and sound recordings from the actual unit complete with all PCB's. We expect at that time to also publish videos of the full features of the front panel software and the application software running on the touch screen.
I have had quite a run-around because the manufacturer of the original 17 inch touch screen declared the product end-of-life. But the good news is that I was introduced to the largest manufacturer in the world of 17 inch touch screen displays used e.g. in airport Internet kiosks. They are willing to engineer a model with a nice rubber bumper all around the monitor. It is only 2 inches thick and it stands on a standard music stand perfectly. We are also supplying a compact flip-up desktop stand mount which may be used for people who prefer a free standing unit on the desktop.
Dennis has been making sure all the application software is fully touch-enabled, he has been configuring combi sounds and backings showing off VSTI's, plug-in eEFX (per channel insert EFX) and our best sampled sound library. He has also been programming up his AKAI MPK61 keyboard and controller worksurface to work perfectly with Open Studio Live. The AKAI MPK and MPD series controllers are the first ones fully configured by us. The next controller we will be programming up is the new QUNEO 3-D controller (see Kickstarter) and we will be able to supply QUNEO 3-D and AKAI controllers at discount to customers ordering from us when purchasing Open Studio Live.
Software included in the price of Open Studio Live is:
Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium
Cakewalk Sonar X1 Essential
SampleLord
Extreme Sample Converter
LoopBE (virtual MIDI router)
LiveStyler version 14
This software is preconfigured by us to work together and make music the moment you switch on Open Studio Live. Dennis will be posting some pictures of how it looks and works together.
We are also willing to sell an OEM version of Open Studio Live without any Software, but there is no support available from us for the OEM version due to the fact we have no influence in the software the OEM customer may wish to install. |

Hi Bachus,
I've got SampleLord also. Had it for a year or 2 now ( Sharp put me on to it originally).
Tis a pity program hasn't been updated in all that time.
I mainly used it with my soundfonts for One Man Band. I was creating a bank, though, just the sounds I required, nothing else, to keep the size down.
Band in a Box certainly didn't like it as a plug in, all sorts of glitches, too CPU intensive( I think is the correct term).
Funny, when I used Brainspawn Forte as a host for Samplelord & all my other plugins , didn't have the same cpu problem when using it with BIAB..
Might give it another go with VArranger & my sd2 soundfonts.

Untill about a year ago i used Samplelord a lot, but the lack of upgrades made me move away from it. Tough its functionallity in playing SF2, Wav and several other sample formats including Giga and the Kontakt 1 is still unmatched.
However, Samplelord wants to stream from the disk too badly, and as a result, some audio glitches when loading sounds. The alternaive is to Load All the Sounds (my SF2 collection alone was almost 6gigs), which was out of the question on my 4gb Vista PC i was using back then. However 64bit Windows 7 on my current machine (24GB) could do the job better. I'll give it a try, running everything from SSD. |
