|
|
| I'm trying to connect a midi controller to my m50 and play the m50's sounds from it. The owner's manual tells me how to plug the controller in, but I couldn't find anything on what to do from there. I can still play from the Korg but I get absolutely no sound by playing the controller. Help!!! |

What type of controller? Keyboard? Maker? Model?
Have you set up a channel that the controller is transmitting on?
Is the controller doing a "combination" - multiple zones, multiple channels?
Is your M50 set up, under the global menu, to receive note, program selection, and bank selection data? If not, what data is being blocked by the midi filter? [What's a midi filter?]
--------------
You need to read BOTH the M50 and Midi Controller's manuals to see how the two will interact - it's not necessarily a perfectly transparent plug-n-play situation. You may have to work at it for a bit to get things where you want 'em.

| The controller is actually a Rock Band 3 keyboard, which might seem amateur to some people but it functions as a midi controller as well. It's supposed to always be on a default channel 1. I've gotten it working through my computer with programs, now I'm moving to the korg. |

Gaaak! (Just threw up in my mouth a little)
... then what you want to do is set the M50 to receive on channel 1, which should take care of program mode.
99% of combis use Global channel (G1) and should respond correctly.
If they don't, then you need to check the MIDI Rcv set-up under the global menu and make sure all the appropriate boxes are checked [Yes].
Also check the batteries (if any) on the controller - MIDI cable (if that's your connection) is not a power source. If you are going wireless route, you'll need to read up on how to connect your interface (wii or PS3) to the keyboard... and again make sure that the data is flowing in the right direction without any roadblocks from the MIDI Filter.

Haha if i can use it i will.
But yes, all the global things are checked, my midi cable is the one I've gotten to work with my computer, only midi in/out without the usb part. As for wireless, I'm not even going to go down that path right now, im so new to this. |
