congrats on being one of the first to install that SSD.
I am cautious, especially about voiding the warranty with that kind of change.
Did you notice exactly the type ( brand, etc) of SSD that Korg used ?
I would think they used a pro grade SSD, but if they didn't that would be good to know. I am not that enthused about using a consumer grade SSD.
How do you know if the ATom processor can handle ( over a long period of time) the larger storage overhead of a 128 gig SSD ? Given that the Kronos is built around embedded system design, there may be a list of questions surrounding replacing the SSD.

Thanks for the head to head my friend PianoManChuck..
I will soon acquire the Austrian piano, I realize that I can make it even more metallic and sharp. An excellent choice for many applications, as well as the German piano also do the same.
I think so..the Korg Kronos definitely breaks the paradigm in item "diversity" of piano sounds.
Excellent ..
Thanks man

That's exactly right! While people may not like the Austrian as much as the German in this comparison, they need to realize (as you did) that you can modify the sound - quickly and easily. While you may like it more metallic and sharp, you can certainly make it so!

That's definitely my favorite hat! Picked it up in a resort town in Southern California (a little town called Julian)... it was the only one of its kind at that shop. _________________ Check me out at PianoManChuck |

Hi !
The original drive is some Toshiba, available for 89,00 Euro.
You can find the manual of the used intel board concerning the atom on the net: http://downloadmirror.intel.com/18357/eng/D510MO_ProductGuide01_English.pdf
There you find all information needed.
Furthermore, I would read this here as well: http://si7-lab.blogspot.com/

thank you for the info.
the labblogspot seemed to be an opinion piece.
So, to conclude, did Korg use an inexpensive SSD in the Kronos ?
Or maybe it was quite good at the time, 3 years ago, when the Kronos
was designed.
I reviewed the intel doc about the Atom and its capacity. I did not see where it addressed my concern about handling the extra overhead
of a 128GB SSD. Would you be concerned ? _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8
