Please excuse me asking about the Triton Extreme Sequencer in another Forum.....But I'm hoping Korg keeps their sequencers consistent...Maybe M50 owners will have a solution to a nagging sequencer issue.

I set up song length at the beginning of every sequence.....But my sequence will never just STOP at my pre-set length, it keeps recording, or adding a measure.....I even tried AUTO-PUNCH workaround.....There HAS to be a solution, though I can't find this.....Does Anyone else go through this ????

This is really, really tiresome to set song length after each and every track recorded. I have my sequences loaded up in Cue list as I'm working on tightening my whole CUE SONG

After I record on any given track the sequencer continues to play until I can release my hand....So generally 1 extra measure gets recorded.

So when I check how the new sequence track sounds in the CUE SONG, I 1/2 the time forget to RESET song length at the end of each additional sequence track....

My old ENSONUQ VFX-SD would stop on a dime when you set song/sequence length....Not my EXTREME.....

Anyone have any ideas ????? I want my sequences to stop after 8 bars, when I set 8 bars.......I need them to stop on a dime.....

This really kills my workflow

As an M50 owner I would love to hear a solution to this issue as well as it bugs the hell out of me.

I gave a possible workaround here: http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=70405

I would also recommend reading this topic fully: http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=70198

Why? Because it explains how the Master Track works. And this is what is causing you guys grief. The sequencer is designed to and will continue to record past your song length, just in case you need it. If you intend to live record only 8 measures, are you going to hit the stop button before the sequencer gets to measure 9? Probably not. You might hit on the beat or just after, and then a measure is added to the Master Track.

For instance, say you have a song 100 measures long. You're recording your final track, and then inspiration hits and you decide to hold a note or chord past the end of the song, or maybe play a brief and very cool phrase that you would have trouble reproducing ever again that carries on to measure 101. If the sequencer just stopped recording at measure 100 while you were playing, you would lose it, possibly forever. So, it allows you to go past your preset length just in case. This isn't a flaw, it's a feature. Smile

Honestly, the best thing to do is to set the song length after you've finished recording. When you start a new song, set it song length value to 1. When you're done, reset it so it stops right where you want it to. Consider making it part of your workflow.

Note: I haven't tested the punch in / punch out thing yet to see if the sequencer adds an empty measure. If it does, then I can easily see why people would be annoyed.

Thanks for the time, it is just the way this sequencer is designed...My old Ensoniq gave you options......An option would of been nice.....

I do need to make it part of my workflow....

The punch in/out adds a measure.........

Yep, you're right. I've just tested it and Auto Punch In/Out adds a measure to the Master Track.

Thinking about it, it makes sense (although I agree it's a pain). Auto Punch In/Out assumes there is additional song data after the punch out point, and typically there is. In order to record the selected final measure for its full duration, the recording will have to stop right on the first beat of the very next measure. If that measure doesn't exist, the sequencer needs to add it in order to ensure that any notes played will last for the duration of the "final" measure, if necessary.

But Loop All Tracks doesn't add any measures to the Master Track, nor does stopping recording before the end of the final measure.

Thanks for the info, now I know I'm at least not missing anything and will continue to do as i have been by setting the length after recording. I too, was an Ensoniq user so I just have to adapt my style for workflow.

I'm getting in the habit of right AFTER recording a track to set the length.
