Hi from Germany!
Am I doing anything wrong or do all three machines M50/M3 and Kronos a lousy job loading GM files?
I did the obvious parameter setting: Global Mode -> GM2 activated
SEQ -> GM initialization of SONG 000
After that I load a SMF GM midisong into SNG 000.
What I get is always crap. I used many different approaches but to no avail. Could you please explain how to import GM files correctly?
Before I bought a Kronos I had a Korg M50-61 and a Roland GW-8L.
I very much loved my M50 but to learn a song I always used the GW-8 first because it really made those ugly GM songs shine.
I hoped Korg would do the same with the Kronos.
Any suggestions?

I have no problem loading GM files. I have a whole bunch of them stored in a folder called MIDfiles. I load one into a Song, go to Sequencer mode, set GM Initialize in the drop down menu and start the sequence. Can't go wrong. Of course, the GM instruments may not be to your liking but that's the way it is.
