Apologies in advance if this thread has been covered.

Is there anyway to get more control over the amp and filter envelopes of the EMX-1?

Thanks.

It depends on what you mean by "more control"? Full ADSR, no. You can simulate some of it by recording the motion sequence for the level, but it's very tricky to get it bang on.

EDIT: You have a Supernova though, I have a Nova and it's an ideal pairing with the EMX. Set your Supernova midi for the voices to match the midi out of the EMX synth parts and you can play with the envelopes all you like.

Thanks for the reply.

I never thought of that! Maybe I could get a bit more control of the envelopes this way.

I had a nova. I only sold it cos I've got the Supernova. Very good synths. I think the supernova only has more FM parameters, apart from that they are identical. I did have the KS rack but found it a bit weedy. Just got to pluck up courage to put the new tubes in mine Exclamation

You can fake it with the modulation section...the saw, square and S+H waveforms are LFO-like but re-trigger with every note hit, whereas the triangle is pure LFO and the slope is pure EG. Assign the slope to something and it'll function as an alternative way of defining attack/decay.

Aside from this, the "vanilla" way to control the envelope is through a combination of the AMP EG and the EG INT of the filter. To get a feel for this, make sure you've got some cutoff, maybe res it too, and hold down a note while you tweak the EG INT knob. Switching AMP EG to slope will give you control over something like decay/sustain/release.

...but maybe you knew all this already. The EG INT was a mystery for me for a while.

I actually didn't know that so thanks for the great tip. Very Happy
