microKorg problem with usb midi cable on Windows 7

Post by Kplus »

Hello.i would like some help, this is my first post on your forum.

I have a microKorg and i just bought a usb midi cable to connect it with my pc.

The problem that i have is that, altough the pc recognizes the usb input as a midi input,DAWs and Korg's Sound Editor show no response at all with the keyboard.

My pc runs Windows 7 64bit,the synth is microKorg ,and this is the cable that i just bought.

I would appreciate your help since i just bought the synth and i really want to use it but i cant.

Thnx in advance.

Have you tried swapping the ins and outs around?

Technically the correct way for it is 'IN' should go to 'OUT', and vice-versa. This means the connectors are labeled relative to the pc/interface.
Some cheaper manufacturers have labeled them the other way around (as in, labeled them for what you plug them in to (assumes you have a very basic setup) rather than what they are for), so in this case, 'IN' goes to 'IN'. It's strange..

I have this very cable and you have to plug the "in" into the "out" and the "out" into the "in". A X-trade said, it's from the PC's perspective, not the synth.

And that's the way it should always be

Yes :D Although it's almost impossible to explain that to someone who's not got an ounce of understanding about midi, which I once had to do. (No-one on this forum).
