Hi all, I want to establish this poll so we can petition Korg to re-negotiate a new licencing deal with Stephen Kay so that Kronos owners can get Karma 3.

I think it preferable to keep ALL personal opinions and ideas and other "wishings" out of the thread, all we really need are votes - and LOTS of them!!

If you want to post comments that are "encouraging" to Korg or you think can help persuade them, then I think that is fine Smile

I am not suggesting it is free, but if it is priced at around the same as the Yamaha Motif version of Karma 3 then that would be fair. (I seem to recall reading somewhere on the Karma Forums that the suggested price for Motif Karma was about $160? USD - perhaps SK or someone could confirm this?)

Can you all please PLEASE support this as Karma 3 is totally amazing and "eats" Karma 2.5!! which is, as I understand it, the highest version Korg have licenced.

hi and thank you for informing us about Karma 3.0 Smile
I had no idea it was taken to a new level, but whether or not ill get it depends on the price tag that comes with it and if its external or internal (kronos)
If its like u said that Korg has a license for karma 2.5 then i guess its an external program like the one for Yamaha. I do not think i would upgrade until i can wrap my head around how Karma works internally in the Kronos. I think i would buy the "karma kronos software" first to learn more about "karma". My next kronos project is exactly this.

BUT... as much i would like to have Karma 3 in my kronos i do not think Mr Kay would do this for free. I think he is a business man as well as a genius programmer Smile

[darn typo]

[additional]
After watching the youtube clip im confused..namm 2011 (???) its like a year ago and the kronos is from july/august 2011?

note to self: keep up with important musical news..

Not having a Motif, I have not paid attention to Karma 3. What has it got compared with Karma 2.5 ?

Before voting, it would be useful to know what you would be voting for. Is there a Karma 2.5 vs 3.0 comparison anywhere ?

Have a look at this.....

It's way more advanced....
Sort of like all the benifits of KARMA and an Arranger in one, plus way more.

Yamaha may have negotiated exclusive rights to v3 KARMA - particularly feasible given that Korg don't have it already on the K and neither party is suggesting it's an option.

I do hope the relationship is an ongoing one (korg/Kay).

The power of Korg: Kronos, Oasys, M3, M50, etc - that 50% of the Karma.

YES!

PROVIDED that they include the GE-Editor ON-BOARD the instrument itself!

The Japanese really need to wake up, here. They screwed up the Audio Editor and made it completely pointless to have one.

The lack of an on-board GE-Editor on KRONOS is my ONLY gripe.

Give us that with KARMA 2 or 3, and I'll be satisfied beyond belief.

AKAIK, there are no "exclusive rights" whatsoever for K3...SK has done it all off his own bat. I believe all Yamaha have provided is sysex data and other propietary data so he can get to run on a Yamaha.

The downside for Yammie users is that you MUST have a PC on stage connected to the Motif to use it.

I do not believe this would be necessary on a Kronos as all the control mappings seem to be all pretty much already in the Korg OS...

A PC would be needed (unless Korg re-write a bit of OS code) to allow the 16 scene selection options available on Karma 3, and the Karma for Kronos PC editor...

Being a novice to Karma, this is stuff I am only making "guess-timates" about only, but based around some logic and initial use. Plus I was looking at a Karma for M50 package and trialling it ages ago on a PC. Very Happy

Anyway it's a good response so far, so let's really send a "message" to Korg!!!! Smile

Actually, I finally released my own video a few weeks ago that gives a pretty good overview:

KARMA Motif Video Introduction

...even though the software is not yet released, but it's getting really close. Wink

I'll try to explain a bit more about the relationships involved a little later...

I think the views count includes people who were not logged in. The only way to vote is when you're logged in. Thus the discrepancy.

I voted "yes"!
