I believe that there are Kronos 88's in stores with system versions of 1.06 or 1.5, perhaps even 1.52 or 1.6.

I have a friend who is interested in the German Grand, but has to travel a great distance to test it out.

I have already advised him to be sure to try velocity curve #9**, however, I'm wondering if it makes any difference what system/firmware/OS is installed - or do I need to advise him to check for this.

I would hate for him to travel, try out the board, and then find out that it had a firmware version installed where a later one had improved the piano.

** From the manual:

Set the Velocity Curve to suit your playing style:

Velocity Curve 4 is the default, and should work for most players.

Curve 9 is designed specifically for playing piano sounds from the weighted RH3 keyboards in the 73‐note and 88‐note models.

In my own testing, I found curve #9 very effective for acoustic piano.

well i don't have kronos (yet) but i do own other korg keyboard, the C-720.. I only play piano with it, and when it first arrived on my house, the velocity is set to medium 2 (there are fixed, soft 1,2,3, medium 1,2, hard 1,2,3 if not mistaken)... as time goes by i find it pretty non expressive for certain songs (like clair de lune for example) because it has tendency to sound really loud even when the keys were depressed not too hard... after i set the velocity to hard 3, the problem's gone... I think there is no relation between system software version and the velocity... so you have to set them to suit your needs...

I use velocitycurve 9 since I bought the K88. And I had all the OS versions. That makes no difference on the velocity. So your friend is fine with all the versions.
