Hey all, sorry for bugging into the oasys section (i'm not having oasys at all Very Happy

)
i have a few question about oasys...
first about the keybed..
when you first played it, and now after a few years has passed, does the keybed still feels the same from the first time?? does the repetitive action still kicking?? does it makes weird sound (clicking, etc)??
and the reliability...
do you ever had any software or hardware problem/fail with your oasys??

i'm just curious to know.. Thanks!

To support the above, posts I've not had any issue on my 88 at all.

In fact, I have not read of here (or anywhere else for that matter) a single recorded issue with the O keybed - 76 or 88.

Whilst there have been negative comments through the years about lack of OS development and a dated sequencer, I've not had any OS issues at all; solid as a rock.

Same with build quality - this thing could crush tanks!

The only known build-related niggle is the buttons which sometimes (not always) fail - I have 2 buttons that don't work. But on screen navigation solves that so not really an issue. Replacement is possible as parts are still available.

The OASYS with its RH2 keybed and v1.3.3a OS is, for want of a better word, perfect Smile

No issues at all with the keybed (O88). From the software side just a few hang ups along the several years.
Only issue was with the screen or video board that needed to be replaced (technical service changed both as they could not determine or tell me wich one was the problem really). The keyboard and touch screen were working perfectly but nothing shown in the screen (but shown in an auxiliary screen connected to the hidden VGA port present in every Oasys).

In general I can say that build quality of Oasys is superb.

I have an OASYS 76, serial #000036. Purchased in September, 2005. It is the heart of my studio. Keybed is perfect. Sina is right, I've used WD-40 to fix some faulty buttons (namely Sequencer Start/Stop), which work fine, now.

I've never recorded on a computer sequencer - I use the OASYS for all my projects!

I took these pics, 2 weeks ago. I just posed my boards for this first one; my setup is not really THAT crowded. Very Happy

In reality, I rarely use my other boards. I keep them for the hundreds of projects that remain on them, so I can call up material that I need. Here is what I use for just about everything, now:

The TI and the OASYS were the last two synths I bought! Thanks to those two monsters, I have not bought anything, since the Virus in 2007. I don't need anything else. In fact, I'm kind of out of the loop.. I used to know a lot about gear, because I was shopping/comparing everything and then buying something every year. Now, I've been off the grid for 5 years! Though it's very nice to continue to recieve free Virus OS upgrades that keep adding features, so it always feels like a brand new synth!

I sold several boards to help offset the OASYS cost - Triton, Triton Extreme, Fantom, Virus C, MOSS board. Well, my step-dad gave the Fantom back, a year later, because he wasn't using it. I upgraded to the TI keyboard. Finally, someone just gave me the Ensoniq VFX, so it doesn't look like I pared down as much as I did.

100% Reliability with my Oasys 76,Boots up everyday without fail and has done so since bought new in 2007,its been gigged with many times and still works perfectly,Rock solid machine,now confined to the studio use only to safeguard its build

I feel privileged and blessed to own one of those 3000 Units,may have been expensive but certainly was worth every penny,if it last another 5 years I'll be very happy.

Solid as a rock here. Played in studio primarily, but also moved to practice studio, relocated to new city and state and gigged with no issues. Software and hardware all working fine. No button or keyboard issues. The keyboard feels the same as when I first got it, as far as I can tell.

This keyboard has had more use than any other I've had, although not played in clubs as much as I don't do as much live playing.

Its been a great investment that sould continue to be a source of enjoyment and instrumental in my musical adventures. Cool

I'm happy to report that my Oasys 76 still gives me the same rush and joy as the day I received it. It is my favorite action of all the boards I've owned...and that is quite a few. I'm a happy camper. Smile
