|

Hi there,
I just thought I would start a thread to say hello and introduce myself. My name's Tim and as of last week I'm an owner of a brand new M3-88 XPanded!
I've owned a few different workstations over the year such as the Fantom and Motif lines, but despite dabbling with Korg with smaller synths like the MicroKorg, I've never had a Korg workstation before.
I deliberated for weeks over the Kronos and M3, and after a lot of going back and forth (and browsing these forums!) I decided the M3 was the best unit for me, I'm no more than a hobbyist and couldn't justify the higher cost of the Kronos 88, plus I'm still convinced that, at least here in the UK, I still had a relatively high chance of picking up a unit with keybed issues given the older stock isn't likely to have shifted yet. Plus I like to play spontaneously after getting home from work, boot time is important to me!
So, I am delighted, The M3 is far easier to use than anything I have owned on this scale before, and I'm really enjoying working my way through the new sounds and features.
I've also registered on Karma Labs (not sure who uses both!) and looking forward to getting some great advice on here and hopefully sharing my experiences too!
Cheers
Tim. _________________ Current Equipment

Hello Tim,
Welcome to the forum! I am sure you will enjoy the M3. _________________

Well.. I don't know if its me being unlucky, or just the inevitable, but I seem to have picked up an M3 with a dodgy RH3 keybed.
I am wondering if given the M3 XPanded is still in production, whether there is the possibility, as I seem to have encountered, to obtain a unit that has the same keybed issues. I had sticky/stiff keys, and the overall "feel" was very noisy and clunky.
The dealer is taking it back of course, and I am going to take some time out to think about what to replace it with. I am tempted by the Kronos, but not so tempted by picking up a unit with the same problems. I may do a bit of research and get one from a dealer where I know there is new stock, or the problem has been fixed in the existing stock....
Oh well... I loved the sound of the M3 and will definitely stick with Korg, but disappointing about the keybed, as it has been a right hassle to arrange for it to be sent back! |

You will not regret a Kronos if you can afford it.
You always can ask if the Kronos has a new/old keybed and it can be fixed always of course if needed. _________________
