I haven't seen this posted anywhere... and come to think of it, haven't seen Korg mention anywhere that they've added this set. Some nice sounds for the Emx-1.

http://www.korg.com/uploads/Download/UK_BASS_634667988495660000.zip

From the Korg site...

UK Bass
This download contains the UK Bass expansion bank, which was created exclusively for the ELECTRIBE-MX by producer Shrike. UK Bass contains 128 BIG bass patterns, covering Dubstep, Drum & Bass, Breaks Electro House, along with fresher genres such as 100BPM and Future Garage. Includes loads of dirty wobbles, deep recesses, sub basses and clinical drum beats for you to use and edit to your liking - proof that the EMX is just as powerful a tool for producing today’s genres as it was in the beginning! Installation instructions are included with this download.

That's fantastic. Thanks for the heads up, bcmonke.

I haven't downloaded it yet (still at work). Do you know if this will work with the EMX1 or is it just for the EMX1SD?

Cheers,
Matt

ETA: I have downloaded the zip and the instructions say that it will work with smart media on the EMX1

Ooooh that sounds tasty! Cheers for the heads up.

Although making sounds from scratch is great, its nice to hear some cool patches and get some inspiration!

I take it korg have still yet to make the latest MXSD pattern set available?
Thay have the SXSD preload, and although nothing special its worth having.

The readme file for the download references sophisticated programming simulating sidechain compression. Has anyone picked these apart to figure out what they're up to? I can't tell which patch they're talking about but if I had to guess, all that jumps out at me is that they send multiple kicks to the same compressor as a bass instrument. You?

I downloaded it, and I am totally stunned. I cannot understand why here is nobody who states that these patterns are simply awesome. There is so much power in them, and they really proove that the EMX is still up to date.
Just the drums are that tight, it is unbelievable. If I were the producer of these sounds I would be totally proud of me. After a year my results are far, far away from Shrike.

so its only patterns then? when i heard about this i got excited that it might also contain new drum PCMs or PCM's for the PCM synth part... if it's just patterns I couldn't be bothered. -sadface-

I was kinda hoping for new PCM's too. I suppose that would require a firmware release? Can anyone read enough Japanese to see what Korg's been posting on the co.jp site? I can't find the downloads section.

Do you have any proof that they uploaded anything new or a you just guessing? I am doing some research atm but I did not find anything yet. There is only the manual, I did not find a download section.

I can't say I inspected each element but I did check. When I saw that it was an emx file and not a firmware update I did not expect to find new PCM's or synths. Plus the readme references advanced programming techniques rather than new tools. If you find otherwise, please let us know.

/edit

I misread your message. No proof. Just thinking if anything happened, maybe it would happen there first.

Hi guys,

I've finally got around to ordering a smart media card and plan on installing this when it arrives.

Obviously this will overwrite the existing preset patterns and songs but which ones? Are the patterns I made at risk of being over written?

Cheers,
Matt

Backup all your patterns. I'm not sure which blocks it overwrites (A/B/C/D) but you'll be a sad panda if you lose any of your hard work. Always good to backup everything... Which reminds me to do so.

Thanks punpkomg.

So, it looks like a pretty involved process:

1. Format SM card

2. Save all existing data to card

3. Load all data from UK Bass pack

4. Load saved pattern D33 (from step 2) and save to internal memory

5. Repeat step 4 for D34 - D64

Whew! Does that sound right?

Simply save all data and then load all data (the UK Bass file). When you are finished, reload your user file.
