Hi everyone, first time on any kind of forum, the Korg Kronos is so new there's not a lot of resources out there, thought I'd ask you guys:

I'm in an electronica band and play keys. We play along with some bass and drums backing tracks (used to always be just played on an iPod). I got the Kronos thinking, wow, I'll have an awesome keyboard and will be able to play those bass and drum tracks at higher quality and from the same machine I'm playing keys through (simpler, better sound).

What I can't figure out is the best way to do this. Thought I could just make songs for a gig, so that song 001 would have the bass and drum wave files imported via USB, and I could have all my program/patches, BPM and effects ready for that song.

BUT... I only loaded a couple of these wave files (and the Kronos split them into left and right files?) before I got "memory overflow," errors. Now I can't figure out how to create that room, or erase/look at the waves I did manage to get in there.

This is my first fancy keyboard, and I understand there's a steep learning curve, but anyone out there kind enough to help me figure out how to do what I'm describing here?

Thanks you guys.

Hey Urk,

Welcome to the world of Kronos and to the forum.

Not sure why you're getting memory overflow errors.

How many songs are doing? How long are the wav files?

In my case, I play/sing solo with backing tracks. I also used to play the tracks from an iPod. I imported the tracks as wav files and play piano tracks along with them. I haven't had any trouble doing that. I've got about 15 songs set up. Each are in the 3 to 5 minute range.

Can you give us some more information?

I think the Kronos can easily handle what you are trying to do.

Dan

Of course, another suggestion would be to sequence your bass and drum parts. The Kronos has lots of high quality timbres. And MIDI sequences take up very little memory. Plus you can change tempo as needed.

How are you importing the wave files into song? Are you importing them as samples, or as audio tracks in the sequencer.

Yes, to follow on from Shakil, if you use Sample RAM, you will quickly run out of memory. But importing the files into a Song means it will stream from disk, so you won't get "memory overflow" problems.
