Ok, here's the problem. Unless i press the Pad button like spot on , with %100 precision on the down beat, the Pad and the style are out of sync for whatever the duration of the pad is. Let's say if I was off by 10 milisecond when pressing the button, the entire sequence is going to be off against the style by that amount.
Is there a setting that would lock the PADs and the style together, that is if you press the Pad button reasonably close to the grid/downbeat?
If this is not possible, then I don't see how you can use these PADs to play back sequences. It wouldn't matter if you played a one shot short sample, but it's totally noticeable with longer sequences or looped material.
What do you guys think?

Hi Sam
Did you really mean syncing with styles? I use pads a lot with the band (using styles) and I never have to worry about sync - they always start and sync no matter where I am in the measure (on my PA2Xpro).
I was just a little confused by your comment:-
Cheers

PADs with sequences or PADs with styles??If this is not possible, then I don't see how you can use these PADs to play back sequences.

yeah, that's what I meant (pads with styles). I've recorded some melodies and have assigned them to PADs. I'm happy with the settings and all that, and they work just fine. I'm only trying to play one PAD at the time by the way. Let's say PAD 1 is assigned to a 16 bar Violin solo. While the style is running, i press PAD 1 on the downbeat, but for the most part I CAN'T get them to sync.
A simple example: Let's say the time signature is 4/4:
1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & , 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &,......etc
I want the violin to start on the downbeat of bar 20 , so I press PAD 1 whenever i get there. it plays the violin phrase right away, which is fine, but i have the problem mentioned above. If i'm early or late in pressing the button, even by fraction of a second, it's going to start early or late by that amount, and therefore it will be out of sync with style.
This is an extremely sensitive setting. Pads should really snap to the nearest grid. I don't know if any of these make sense at all.

As these are your created PADs, have you set PAD sync option correctly?

This parameter allows you to set a synchronization mode for the
Pad’s pattern.
Off
No synchronization. The sequence will start as
soon as you press the PAD button.
Continued
The pattern will start immediately, in sync with
the arranger’s or active player’s tempo. Depending
on the current position of the beat counter, it
might not start from its very beginning; instead,
it will continue from the current position.
For example, if the arranger’s or player’s beat
counter shows the third beat, and is playing tick
91, the Pad will start from its third beat, at tick
91.
Beat
The sequence will start at the next beat, in sync
with the arranger’s or player’s tempo. It will start
from its very beginning (i.e., tick 1 or measure 1).

Score!!! That's what I needed. Thanks a lot
Just recently found a use for PADs, so I never really explored them before.
