Does anyone know if the USB midi port on the Alesis I/O Dock for ipad transmits audio the same way Apple's Camera kit does? Theoretically it should. That would be very, very sweet!!
Thanks in advance. |

Fail to see the Kronos relevance here? Move to software perhaps? |

Apex I just read in the I/O Dock online manual that audio will not transfer over the usb port. Have you actually done this. Very curious. |

This still has nothing to do with the Kronos. |

Thanks, Sharp.
I don't really understand what you mean with the USB midi port. There is either a USB port or a midi port. Generally speaking, a midi port doesn't transmit audio. A USB port might. The I/O dock however has dedicated audio outs. What are you trying to do? |

Seems as relevant as hardware discussions of monitors, external drives, sounds systems etc. for use with Kronos. I use my Ipad dock with the Kronos as a controller. |

I just realized after sharp moved this thread why there was confusion. In my first post I never mentioned the Kronos. All I wanted to know is if the usb port on the Alesis I/O Dock would transfer audio to the Kronos in the same way the Apple's camera kit allows the ipad to transmit audio to the Kronos. I know that some usb ports transmit both midi and audio. Doesn't look like the I/O Dock is capable of this unfortunately. Would have been very convenient! My apologies for not making my initial post clear enough. Thanks again gentlemen for your input. |

The I/O Doct acts the same as the Camera Connection Kit, so if connecting from iPad to Kronos USB-B ports, Kronos should appear as a MIDI and Audio interface to any app that supports it.
Kronos does not support external audio interfaces connected as guest devices to its USB-A ports though. _________________ Current Gear: Kronos 61, RADIAS-R, Volca Bass, ESX-1, microKorg, MS2000B, R3, Kaossilator Pro +, MiniKP, AX3000B, nanoKontrol, nanoPad MK II,

Thank you X-Trade. I also neglected to mention I was referring to the usb B port in my original post. I'm sure that added to the confusion. Thanks to everyone. Great forum!! |

Sorry, the io dock only has a USB-B, meaning that you have to connect it to a USB-A on the Kronos.
So it would be the same as using the normal USB/Doc lead.
Generally speaking, you have USB-B at the 'device' end, and then USB-A at the 'host' end - i.e. the part that acts as the computer, that the device becomes a slave of.
So you wouldn't get USB audio to the Kronos with the io dock. You should with a camera connection kit though.
But the io dock does offer all the standard connections (MIDI and jacks) to connect up.l _________________ Current Gear: Kronos 61, RADIAS-R, Volca Bass, ESX-1, microKorg, MS2000B, R3, Kaossilator Pro +, MiniKP, AX3000B, nanoKontrol, nanoPad MK II,

Thanks X-Trade. That is what I feared. Yes the I/O Dock does have a lot of connections to utilize but all I have available on the Kronos is the USB B port. I use two microphones on the other inputs. Still trying to figure out if there is any USB mixer out there that would work with that USB B port so I could add some line inputs if needed. The reason I need to go through the Kronos is because I go straight to powered subs and tops directly from the main L/R. Thanks again for your input! |
