How to upload an avatar on to the forums

First you need to click on your profile settings.

At the bottom of the page there are 2 options to upload an avatar.

The first option is to upload the avatar direct from your machine.

This does not work. Please do not use this option!

The second option is for you to upload your avatar on to an image hosting site.

I use www.imageshack.us (but there are many other similar sites available) It's completely free to register and you can upload many photos for free too.

If you're uploading an avatar to an image hosting site be sure not to resize the image in the process. When uploading to imageshack there is an option to keep the image it's original size.

Once you have uploaded your image you then need to copy the URL. On image shack you can do this by selecting the "direct url" link or if you view the image and then right click on it you can copy the image URL from there.

Now paste this URL in your profile page where it says "Upload avatar from a URL" and click submit.

There is no need to post a test post. Just find one of your posts you have already made and if it has been successful your avatar will appear below your name.

Things to remember when uploading an avatar.

The avatar must be no greater than 65 x 65 pixels.
The image size must not be greater than 15kb.
The file type must be jpg, gif or png.

If you are still having trouble uploading your avatar then please feel free to contact one of us Mods.

I've followed your directions and it keeps telling me the size of the jpg is too large. The smallest imageshak size available is 75X65. This forum says the max is 65X65

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks.

Your image should be 65 x 65 to start with and then just make sure that it isn't resized when you upload it to an image hosting site.

I've failed to upload the image. It claims that there's no data at the url even though when I open the URL in IE I see the image.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi there, Mods!

Can someone help me with mine please? It's on my dropbox account, at https://www.dropbox.com/s/qturh8fritv1ugg/Grog96.png?dl=0

I've made sure my avatar meets the guidelines...
  • The avatar must be no greater than 65 x 65 pixels. - Mine is 65x65.
  • The image size must not be greater than 15kb. - Mine is 7.61kb.
  • The file type must be jpg, gif or png. - Mine is a *.png file.
...but I'm still getting "The avatar filetype must be .jpg, .gif or .png" error.

I even tried creating an imageshack account and posting a copy there, http://imageshack.com/a/img922/8331/khcd16.png
...but that gives me "The file at the URL you gave contains no data" error.

Many thanks!

When you upload an image to imgbb.com you are given a page link, which is the one you have provided. Under and to the right the display of the image you have uploaded there is a download button in the form of a standard download icon (a grey icon with a black arrow pointing down into a u shape). If you right-click that icon, you can copy the download link address. Copy that address into the "Upload Avatar from a URL:" text box on your profile information page. This will upload that image to the forum for you to use as your avatar.
Hope this helps!

I just went through all f this, and couldn't get it to upload from the link either.

SOLVED - I copied the URL into my Profile (Upload AVATAR URL) but then deleted the (s) from (https://yoururlfilename....)

That allowed the Korg Forum to see my image.

PostPosted: Fri Feb 19, 2021 3:49 am    Post subject: Connection cannot be completed to server Reply with quote

I'm trying to create my avatar but it keeps saying "A connection could not be made to the URL you gave".

I know it is fine as it's my own server and if I browse for it in a bowser, it shows up without any issue.

The image I'm trying to set is "https://avatars.adelphia.co.uk/dragonWithBG64x64.png" (as displayed below which is exactly the image for the avatar I'm trying to use)

As you can see, it shows in this post so why can't it be uploaded as my avatar?

Any assistance, thanks.

BTW: Image dimensions are 64 x 64 (72ppi) with a size of 8k so well within the requirements.
