Can anyone answer these questions about the Musikant version of the Pa3x? FYI, It's available in Europe here:
http://www.thomann.de/gb/korg_pro_pa_3x76_musikant.htm
What does the "Musicant" version add compared with the standard Pa3x?
Who provides the warranty?
Who provides the software updates?
Is it fully compatible with the non-Musicant version?
Can the Musicant "add on" be purchased separately and added retrospectively to a standard Pa3x? (I prefer the black color to the silver of the Musicant version).
Thanks,
Rob |

The Korg Pa3X Musikant is a keyboard developed Germany and Austria (I guess a collaboration from Korg Italy and Korg Germany).
Check this link to compare (in German) the Pa2x, Pa3x international and Pa3X Musikant:
http://www.korg.de/fileadmin/_korg/_produkte/keyboards/kr_pa3xm/pa2x_pa3x_pa3xm_tabelle.pdf
Most striking differences are specific sounds (accordeons etc) and styles (schlager etc) that are typical for the German market.
Other functions are fully compatible as far as I know.
The styles were protected in the initial release (and could not be changed by user) but this protection is removed in a later upgrade, so the styles can be loaded into the Pa3X international, although they may sound different from the Musikant because of the missing sounds used in those styles.
Warranty on Korg products is via your dealer or the nationwide distributor.
Upgrades are provided on the Korg Pa website: www.korgpa.com

Thanks for the info. Is a list of the extra "sounds" and "samples" published anywhere with previews?. I'm not bothered about Schlager styles and Accordions, but if there were sounds like Bouzouki and oriental woodwind instruments, plus Greek and Turkish styles then it would be useful to me.
Thanks,

Thanks Giner, I appreciate your welcome!
Yes I hope to be "back" to stay, but it is conditional on Korg enabling me to write the Editor / Librarian software with a level of collaboration from them. In the past this did not happen (for the Pa2x), and I am hoping Korg will have had a change of heart with the Pa3x.
If this is not going to happen, then I won't be buying a Pa3x and my appearance on the Pa3x part of the forum may be briefer than I hoped for. In fact without an Editor/Librarian I will probably give up on the arranger market completely and stick with pattern keyboard playing.
I'm now quite accomplished with improvising and creating my own "styles", thanks to the series of DVD's and tutorials "Play Pattern Keyboard Today" from David Sprunger. It's an excellent series that will help any keyboard player to improve, improvise and compose your own music.
Best regards,
Rob |

The only documentation I know is from Korg's German website, where you'll find in the Advanced Edit Manual a list with all the resources of the Pa3x Musikant.
See: http://www.korg.de/uploads/tx_softwarecenter/Pa3XM_AdvancedEdit_v100_ENG.pdf
There is also a list to compare the styles from the international and Musikant version, because just looking at the factory preset list might fool you; many of the styles on international and Musikant version are the same, but have different names.
See: http://www.coolmusic.at/support/korg/downloads/Styles_Vergleich_Pa3XMusikant.pdf
A quick look learned that the new styles you'll find are mostly schlager, party and oldies styles that you won't find in the international version and in the sounds (multisamples) compartment you'll find more accordions, tuba's and wind ensembles than in the international.
It looks like there is nothing extra in the Greek and Turkish music styles in the Musikant version.
I think I have come across a usb-stick that is dedicated to the Turkish market, but I can't remember where I have seen it as I'm not into this kind of music.

Thanks a lot for your help. I checked out the links you sent and have come to the conclusion that the Musikant version is definitely not for me. I can see that is very specifically oriented for the German market.
Best regards,
