How do you manage to get a single style out of the Korg for editing in Cubase and also, how do you make a new style in Cubase and get it into the Pa900?
The manual shows being able to make a style in Cubase, but I would like to export from the Pa900 a preset style for editing in Cubase in order to learn how the settings in a style are applied by the manufacturer.
Seems everything is always buried in a set file.
And, i can not see a way to save a style made in Cubase into a 'set' file for loading in the Pa900.
It's probably in the manual, but the terminology of the Korg is all foreign to me.
Thanks for any suggestions.

You should probably export it as a Midi file. When you enter in Record/Edit style go in Menu and select Export. Export variations which you want to edit in Cubase and edit them as Midi files. After that you can also import them in style as Midi files. Style tracks are placed in midi channels 9-16.
As far as I know, Cubase still don't support Korg file extensions so this would be the only way. |

Thanks Ace - I finally came to the same conclusion.
It's pretty easy to get them out one at a time from the Korg as MIDI's and that is the "only" way to get them in when transferring from a different manufacturer.
I just exported sever Pa900 style as MIDI's and then used them a templates for making new styles from other keyboards.

You can export all CVs at once by pressing and holding the SHIFT button then pressing EXECUTE. The resulting MIDI file will have markers identifying the style elements. _________________ ”It’s easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself.”

Hi Bill,
the sty file format it is Korg proprietary, so you need an exchange format that's actually the largely supported SMF.
Using Thoraldos suggestion this it is quite easy, and allow you to export/import everything in one shot. Just follow the rules also explained in the manual.
Last suggestion: when you import the SMF with your job done in your Pa remember to have it in format 0 (zero) ONLY. It is a problem that made several people crazy ... ehm, including me!.
Hope this help.
Cheers. |
