Thank-you to group for previous screen issue responses.

Not been playing my PA900 much lately but do enjoy plodding through the Quick Start manual. Right now trying Page 57 (playing and muting of ACC tracks).

Selected all the ACC tracks in turn to mute them (using track selection button to access the whole range) and only ONE track responded to a first touch.

Am using forefinger but switching to fingernail makes no difference. Moderately increasing pressure makes no difference and ensuring to keep finger at perpendicular angle to screen.

Same results while Rhythm is playing or paused.

These track mute selections will work *eventually* but only after many tries, and only after using what I regard as more-than-adequate pressure. Like, striking it robustly enough to make the screen 'ripple'.

Once a particular track mute starts to respond, it works okay and will Mute and Unmute okay with the slightest touch. But the other track mute selections: no change.

I suspect that there may be a problem with this keyboard, as I did a fresh Factory Install a short while ago and haven't played it much since then. My point is that if I need to do a factory install every time I use the keyboard, it detracts from the enjoyment of using my Korg PA900.

Having said that, could be I am missing something that I need to do, so am willing to try any suggested remedies.

{EDIT} Done a Screen Calibration, no change, ta.

{2nd EDIT} Just done a Full Resource to SD and then Factory Restore - no change.

Screen selections work great in other functions, for instance when choosing difference Performances, in which case the slightest touch of finger or fingernail works first time and without issues.

Cheers for anything useful, thanks.

My Pa900 works very, very good for doing this function with just the slightest touch every time.

Beginning to look like you have a defective touch screen.

I have only once had to recalibrate my screen so far(3 months use).

Thanks, Bill for your quick response.

Am double-checking everything to make sure I don't fall into the trap of prematurely declaring this lovely keyboard a faulty one.

Right now, it begins to look that way. There is no problem muting or unmuting the UP1-UP2-UP3 and Lower via the main screen, which operates without issue.

Also, I find the Track volume sliders won't readily respond to touch, although using the Data Wheel does the same job without issue.

cheers

On my PA500 and PA600 I find a TAP rather than a PRESS works more consistently. I use the tip of my finger so the nail and finger tip both tap the screen at the same instant. I'm pretty sure all of the KORG touch panels use resistive technology rather than capacitive.

Many thanks, Thoraldus, for your response.

Just been trying other functions of touch screen and all else is normal and can fly though touch-screen menus. End of finger and nail simultaneously is a good way. Probably due to this present problem I may have over-emphasised my finger prods to make the screen pay attention and obey my commands Smile

The Tracks / Volume respond to normal, light touch. (the Blue selector indicator comes next to the Volume numeric. The problem is then trying to Mute a track, which more often than not, doesn't work. Nor does the Volume Slider respond to anything but a *very* firm press-and-slide, which I sense is not a good method to treat this keyboard.

I'll try to get a short vid to show.

Cheers again.

"...I'll try to get a short vid to show."...

Embarassed My bad!

This keyboard is working normally it seems.

When tapping all along the row of tracks in quick succession, thinking to Mute all the tracks at one swipe, I missed one vital element:

The Mute function applies to the one selected track. So no need for those extra strong finger pokes when you haven't actually selected the chosen track for muting.

This keyboard is working as it should.

..... Got my coat and taxi is waiting. I am just going outside and may be some time.

cheers to all.

I found when I am doing something that requires a lot of touch screen presses like editing a style or sound and especially editing in the sequence editor, I get perfect results when I use one of those touch screen stylist having the rubber tip.

Think this is better for the screen too.
