Hi

This must be a hardware problem but i wonder if anyone has had the same problem. The internal left channel seems to be almost dead. Sound level is really low and noisy when panned left.
The same happens on headphone jack.
Sound panned to right play well also in "left jack" so is it motherboard problem or something?

regards,
Jari

Sounds like a problem with the bad caps. We had the same problem, but I can't remember which channel.

You could crank the gain, on the mixer, to get the channels to match, but the bad channel would sound scratchy. Plus, you don't know when it would start working and then overload the mixer channel.

Replacing the caps seems to have resolved our problems.

Had the same problem - twice in a little over a year. It's in for repair as I write this.

This just happened to me. It's actually the right channel that died - it's extremely weak and static-y.

Was a capacitor replacement the ultimate remedy?

Thanks -

Bill

We ended up having to send the M50-61 back, a second time, to have the system board replaced.

It still tends to lock up, but it can be fixed by changing a preset, then back.

We think there is a problem using a non-Korg damper pedal, as well.

We also have an M50-73 that hasn't had any problems, yet.

Follow up: I brought my M50 to a warranty repair shop, and they repaired a "defective jack" (under warranty), but unfortunately the problem reappeared just after I got it home.

I purchased it from Sweetwater 6 months ago, and called them requesting a replacement. They agreed to do an ADVANCE exchange, didn't charge my credit card, and I had a replacement keyboard in 2 days. They even covered return shipping costs.

Sweetwater is great. We got our keyboard through them, as well. They have excellent customer service.

Update: We left the M50-61 on for several hours the other day. When we came back home, the thing was locked-up, again.

*sigh*

I got the same problem. If it is a bad jack, I can probably repair it myself, but if it is more serious, may need to go to repair shop. What was the reason & cost of repair in your case? Thanks.

Reason? First the repair shop had it diagnosed wrong they said it was a power supply issue,,,,, "No" i said, try again. The tech there the said it was "miswired, and crimped wiring". I got it back, about $250.00 later,,It is better, though still very very noisey if you get anywhere near touching the 1/4 inch jacks going into the left /right inputs in the back of the keyboard.
Its definately a KORG design problem, which they wont own up to. The input jacks seem to be sealed together in a small 'box' inside the keyboard, you cant just get to one individual input jack ie, left or right.
Its working, and its still one nasty machine, but, its very very finicky.

hope this helps

Another way of solving this (that worked for me) is to crank up the volume and hit the low notes as quick, hard and as many as you can. Obviously, watch out for the noise. My M50 has the left channel with this issue, and when I play this in A001 patch (Mono M3 Piano) after some consecutive note hits it will get back to normal.

Blacksmith!! Thanks a Ton! God Bless you! It worked!!!
A001 Patch, Headphones, Volume Cranked up, Hit the Lowest Octave in Rapid succession...I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the Stereo sound after almost a year!
I was contemplating sending it for service, selling it off etc. But you were my Angel today, Thanks again!!
