I was just about to ask how these compared to the karo string stuff, the on board string stuff, and the legendary strings that we are expecting soon....

Judging by the Karo Libraries that I bought for the OASYS, I would say the Karo libraries are by far the strongest - they still need tweaking but using them is a joy.

Yes, without problems. Did it work on your Kronos before?
I can remember, that I had to change the sample location (ID's?) after the first installation....

Yes, I have used.

Yesterday I did, but only after changing the name of the directory and KSC file ... removing the "under line".

Thank you

Hi BurningBusch,

I have downloaded and played Sonatina Strings successfully on my Kronos X 61keys. It's great, even more realistic than the Epic Strings from Yamaha Motif XF.
However, I do not know some Programs got the notes muted at C2 to B2. Please let me know if the sample is only a demo. How do I get the full version of this Orchestra Sets?

Did you notice that the sample is missing some octaves?

Thx you so much BurningBusch.

I'm James, from Vietnam

Thanks BurningBusch,
For this nice share. Is it true that some note (C2 to B2 are muted)? Jamesloi is only one, who complain about this, but I wait answer from you, about that.
Thanks for all your effort.

It does Pedja,

I've worked on the Sonatina Sample. It's great sounds I ever know. I'm testing Epic Orchestra from K-sounds (Authorised demo only), and I gotta say the Sonatina beats K-sound this moment.

Sonatina Ensemble 1 : Program U-G000
Sonatina Ensemble Pizz : Program U-G001
---->Working perfectly on all 61 keys Smile)

But
Violins + Violas : Program U-G002
Violins + Violas + Celli: Program U-G003
Sonatina Violins + Celli: Program U-G004
1st + 2nd Violins Dyn : Program U-G005
1st + 2nd Violins : Program U-G006
1st Violins : Program U-G007
1st Violins Dyn : Program U-G008
1st Violins Stacc : Program U-G009
1st Violins Pizz : Program U-G010
2nd Violins : Program U-G011
2nd Violins Dyn : Program U-G012
2nd Violins Stacc : Program U-G013
2nd Violins Pizz : Program U-G014
Sonatina Solo Violin : Program U-G015
---> The keys are muted at C2-B2

Violas : Program U-G016
Violas Pizz : Program U-G017
Cellos : Program U-G018
Cello Dyn : Program U-G019
Cello Stacc : Program U-G020
Cello Pizz : Program U-G021
Basses : Program U-G022
Basses Dyn : Program U-G023
Basses Stacc : Program U-G024
Basses Pizz : Program U-G025
--->The keys were muted at C2-C6

I have tried to configure Zone edit but no where to go.

But why he didn't say that it is the demo ver.? It's really strange!
It will be very interesting to see what will burningbusch say about that?
Maybe someone change archive (uploaded archive with samples with muted sounds)?

It is typical for strings not to be playable over the whole keyboard.
The range for string instruments do vary because of their individual pitch limitations.
A violin won't play low notes and the bass won't play high notes etc.,so they won't have corresponding sounding keys.

Also, the samples used will cover their best range at the time of making.

The ensemble sounds can be played over most of the keyboard as it includes a mixture of stringed instruments and are arranged to provide a greater coverage.

However,if you really want to have these individual instruments at a higher or lower pitches, you could do a key transpose accordingly,(using the combie mode with appropriate zoning could achieve this,to cover the whole keyboard etc).
Some won't actually sound all that good,so it would be better to use a string instrument within their own pitch limits anyway.

The Sonatina library is very useful which can enhance string compositions…. being free…..is well worth having !!!

The Karo samples are a little better overall, but come at a cost…….again, worth having, depending on finances etc.

Not sure what you're comparing, K-Sounds have released Epic Piano, not Epic Orchestra. Are you talking about a KARO library? EXs50/51/52 perhaps?

That's correct. I'm sure that's the reason some programs don't cover the keyboard, so that you don't play outside the range of the real instrument. The lowest note on a violin is G3, viola is C3, and cello is C2. Lowest note on double bass is E1, unless you have a C extension (or a 5-string bass), which lowers it to C1. Violins (and the other instruments as well) can play higher than these programs allow, but I assume the original samples don't go that high. Maybe they assumed no one uses those notes, who knows--although I surely use the notes above E5 on my cello, but not often.

Check to make sure the violins start at G, the violas at C, etc. If not then something may have gone wrong. I can't tell you anything about the other group of programs; everything works fine for me on my K88.

(BTW, I've set all my Hammond programs to not play outside a 61-key range since that's the range of the original Hammond. For someone who plays the original instruments, it sounds really weird when a keyboard player plays something out of range)
