Yes, if certain conditions are met. You need a stereo mp3 with the vocal recorded in center (ie. equal and in phase on both left and right channel). If vocal reverb or other effects are added to the left and/or right channels that are out of phase or otherwise unequal, then those effects will not be removed or only removed partially.
Any instruments meeting the conditions above will also be removed/reduced. _________________ ”It’s easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself.”

Thanks Rick. This is what I am seeing on my korg pa900. When I follow the steps on the users guide to assign to an assignable switch, when I go to the pad/assign switch, I see "vocal remover" and not "vocal remover on/off" as explained by the manual and as a result it does not seem to work or it does not follow the rule explained by you earlier.
On a PA3x I see "vocal remover on/off" but not on the pa900. Is there a significance to "vocal remover" v.s "vocal remover on/off"?
Also, how would I know if an mp3 song that am trying to remove vocals from, the vocal is recorded in Center? Do you happen to know of any mp3 songs with such condition for me to test?
Thanks |

The VOCAL REMOVER function is a toggle. Select to turn it on, select again to turn it off. Korg apparently copy&pasted the information from another Korg PA user manual. Assign the function to one of your assignable switches and when in SONGPLAY mode after pressing the assignable switch you should see a small icon at the top of the screen, just to the right of the words SONG PLAY. The next time you press the assignable switch the icon should go off. As best i can see the icon looks like a person's head with a line through it.
Regarding mp3's you'll just have to load some into your keyboard and try it out. I checked several on my keyboard and none of them had more than about a 12db drop in the vocal given all the extra processing that spreads the vocal into the left and right channels with phase shifts. _________________ ”It’s easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself.”
