Hi Pete, I have just bought a Roland Fantom XR Module, and a Beringer FCB1010, and soon hope to buy Total Transeformation Technologies Band in a Box ( Recordings of the Wurlitzer Organ (al la Blackpool Tower)) have never used Midi before so I've got a lot to learn to get it all put together and working. Hope you and the Forum will be able to help. I have heard Demo's of the Fantom working with Wurlitzer sounds and I just have to buy them (can't play as good as Reginald Dixon (famous Wurlitzer Player) but will probably go to more Organ lessons) I am also impressed with the Roland sound cards Orchestra Sounds especially. I was saving most of this money up for the PA2X when it comes out, but I am so impressed with the Roland Fantom and the way it can be expanded, that I have decided to go with the Fantom. Lots of questions coming soon.

Hi Detlef

I have wondered how the PA1X is played in the EXB2 hammond blues demo - there are lots of subtle and smooth changes - was this demo played real-time or multitrack recorded in a sequence - was the FCB1010 used?

Thanks

Pete Very Happy

Realtime with FCB1010

you´ve to patch the pedal that it´ll work fine with the PA1X
if you like you can use our file for that
http://pa1xpro.com/demosEXB2/EXB2_FCB1010.zip

then you have to change track 1 in midi-setup to general and then it´ll work very perfect (with our EXB Organ Legends - i can not be sure it works with the other sound in this way but i think yes).

hope that helps

Do you think the Behringer FCB1010 will work for the new Pa3x Pro? The EC5 limitation to just 5 functions is very limited. Thank you. Where I can I find instructions for how to set up the Behringer for all the functions beyond 5. Last time I looked at the pa3x controller function for the EC5 it only showed 5 choices.

The Behringer FCB1010 will work fine with the PA3X - it is just a MIDI pedal.

Be warned:- The EC5 can do many things that you can't use the MIDI pedal for. I use both pedals. The EC5 is configured on the keyboard and you can select functions that would be very/too complex for a MIDI pedal - invoking SYSEX etc...

So in summary - EC5 is worth its weight in gold - FCB1010 is great to perform many useful MIDI functions (use the MIDI implementation details in the manual) like volume of UPPER/LOWER parts, selecting performances, FILLS, ENDINGS etc... activating the switch port (i.e. you don't need a separate switch pedal, just a cable). I used it at one stage to control the speed of the Rotary FX. BUT DON'T GET RID OF YOUR EC5!!!!

Cheers

Thank you Pete. Just got the Pa3xPro so will get started with a EC5 first and master the rest of the keyboard functions first. Had read Amazon reviews of the Behringer controller and some said it was difficult to program so I'll wait on that one until I know what I'm doing and utilizing the EC5 to best advantage. Thanks for the useful info cause I erroneously thought that, if I got the Behringer I wouldn't need the EC5 but now I see that they control differently. Happy New Year. Hal

If anyone's patience level is greater than 5% you can program this thing - it ain't difficult and don't forget the free PC software for it - easier than programming on the pedal itself (although, once you understand the programming steps it soon becomes quite simple).

Have you experience with the aftermarket EPROM that expands functionality of FCB1010 to stompbox mode. I have that EPROM installed now but as you say, programming this wonderful 1010 pedal board is quite the learning curve! I was hoping to basically add another EC5 (have one) functionality but have 100 presets on tap.

Aha - now I understand a little clearer - yes, I would go for "Performances" - you can set up each pedal to call up a performance - 10 performances instantly (single press of pedal) and by a single press you can change the bank and get another 10 (10 times!!).

The "performance" will set up your entire keyboard with the sound(s) you want (split/layered/single/volumes/panning etc.. etc..) just like an STS.

Just make sure you have the "transpose" lock ON otherwise if you use the transpose buttons during a number, the next loaded "performance" may change the key!!

I use Arranger mode but also use my FCB1010 pedal for this purpose - to simply change all the sounds/volumes/layering instantly during a song - works fine....

Hope this helps a bit more

Cheers
