I would like to apply the sounds from microStation to the MIDI tracks in my DAW (Reaper).

I have found how to assign a Global Channel that my DAW can listen to and will use whatever sound I happen to have dialed up on the microStation.

If I have MIDI tracks for all the instruments of a string quartet I need to use voices for violins, a viola, and a cello.

How do I assign each of them to a specific channel so that each track can use the proper voice.

I looked in the manual and didn't see it. If its's there please refer me to the section and I'll try to work through it.

Hmmm... I'm beginning to think that there is no way to map specific voices to specific channels in the microStation.

Can someone say definitively, yes or no, whether this can be done?

Only in the [SEQ] Sequencer mode can make mS function as an ext. (GM) MIDI soundmodule for ext. sequencer/DAW.
The MIDI channel/tracks "voice assignment/program change" parameters from the DAW should be edited to match the wanted program/voice sound bank number of mS.
mS has 2 MIDI soundmode: GM2 compatible mode 256 voice/program bank or KORG bank.

So the study start from:
Quote:

microSTATION_ParamG_E2.pdf

Sequencer mode - page 29

Parameter-related features
• When the “Status” of a track is set to INT or BTH, an
external sequencer can be used to play the microSTATION
as a multi‐timbral tone generator
. When the
Status of a track is set to BTH, EXT, or EX2, the sequencer
of microSTATION can play external tone generators.
(“Status” on page 3Cool etc.

Use the mS Editor for quick easy editing!
