Hi,

Generally very pleased with my new Krome 88 "but"!

Using some of the string sounds today and when sustaining chords I'm getting distortion / breaking up in the low end. checked leads etc and its also doing it on the headphones. (have tried turning the volume down etc)

I also used one of the piano sounds and got a brief bit of white noise when I pressed a few of the keys - although I can't get it do it again, (this worries me more - don't want this to happen at a gig!)

Have uploaded a few videos off my phone. Hopefully you can hear the problem........

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UXdb9AtHac (towards the end of the vid)

Advice anyone?

Thanks in advance

Ed

Hello,

Please can you confirm if the noise persist if you turn the volume down?
Also please check with headphones plug directly in the unit.

If the distortion persist in the phone with volume low I think is better to go to the service.

Also check with different phones, cable and mixer before call service:)

Looking forward if something change.

Cheers,
Dan

Thanks for the reply

I was afraid you were going to say that!

I've tried it with volume down and plugged in direct to the headphone socket. Still has the same issue. Doesn't seem to be all the strings sounds - just some of them

Anybody else experienced any similar problems before I speak to Korg UK

Cheers

Hello all,

Sent my krome back to Germany with details of fault & copy of vids posted earlier.

Came back with note "main board replaced as precaution"

Now I've checked and the fault is still there. I'm wondering if this is just a fault with Kromes?

Essentially it happens with some string sounds such as b042 analog strings ( which I love!) basically I'm layering sounds with my sustain pedal a bit like pink floyd to make massive string pads. It doesn't distort when just playing normally without the sustain pedal. I've had a play and when I reduce the low frequency on the 7 band eq on the krome the problem disappears

Am I just overloading it? I've never had this problem on any other keyboard I've owned.

If it's had a new board - isn't that like getting a new synth anyway?

Other users thoughts would be very helpful

Thanks in advance

Ed

Hi,

Please record with this sound in the sequencer and send me the SNG file.
Open the Seq mode and copy from this program with all IFX, MFX settings.
Don't quantize.

Hello,
I have almost the same problem with some sounds, . So reduce the DRIVE to minimum level in the Tone adjust page and fixed it.

Thanks for the reply. At least it's not just me! I tried reducing the drive and although it helped it didn't completely get rid of it. As I said - If I reduce the gain on the bottom frequency on the 7 band eq the problem goes away.

If theres a work around then that's fine - I just want to make sure my Krome isn't faulty, (or everyone has the same fault!)

Cheers

I am actually having a similar problem right now but it is with all the piano instruments in my Krome. When I press the sustain pedal and play multiple notes the sound sometimes stops or there's a small cracking/distorted/static kind of sound.

Funny thing is it happens only with the Grand Piano or Korg Piano instruments (Such as Krog Grand, Piano Stage Live). When I try using guitar or flute or other instrument sound effects for example I don't have this problem as the notes sustain properly. I wonder if anybody can help me out?
