It should be about the same price as the other volcas.
I hope that the sample manager has some way to organize the files... |

Does anybody know the price? |
$199 AUD with free shipping where I live.
That's like $175 USD but I'm guessing they will go for the same as the old volca line. The original volca line are all $199 AUD here _________________ Korg gear : EMX1SD, Volca Sample, DS-10

Whilst I have an ipad for this, my Android phone would love an app too. What are the odds? |

I would be prepared to wager that Korg will never do an app for anything other than iOS. |

Thanks!
Anywhere in the app you'll find the note "Powered by Volca Sample SDK". I think Korg will release their SDK to other developers so we will see support for other platforms. Maybe sooner than later.
The samples included with the app are not bad for the beginning. It's good that you can trim and normalize self-recorded samples within the app. You can also rename and delete samples. And you can transfer single samples to the Volca ... Thumbs up! The only thing I'll miss is Audiocopy support (or even better: Audioshare support). |

I downloaded the App and tested it (though I do not own the Volca Sample yet). Recorded samples are nice, you can trim them how you want very easily. Also, you can listen to the 100 presets, which is fun.
However, the iTunes File Sharing function for adding samples is not very good. It would be so much more easy to simply be able to access your music library on your phone and select a song from there, instead of having to hook up your phone to your computer and dragging samples to itunes file sharing from your pc.
The second downside of the iTunes File Sharing function is that you cannot trim these samples on your phone, like you can with recorded material. This sucks big time, as you have to cut the sample up how you want it on your computer. This is rather cumbersome. So if I would want to use a sample from one of my favourite songs, I have to cut the sample up on my pc, drag it to itunes file sharing and only then I can use it how I want on my phone. Because of this, it is easier to record the sample you want with the recording function, so you can trim it on your phone. However, then, the quality of the sample is obviously far worse.
I hope that using non-recorded samples will be a lot more convenient after the App is updated. This really has to happen and it doesn't seem that hard to fix.
Very curious about hearing, reading and seeing more of the Volca Sample, I'm really thinking about buying it, but this iTunes file sharing thing is so so devious. _________________ that's what she said |
