|
|
Hello everyone,
Has anybody achieved to record sounds from any Korg Volca model (for example recording a Kick from Beats) into an audio track in Ableton Live?
Is it possible to do this?
Thank you very much, I don't find much information about this |

I've done that on a mac running ableton live.
I connected the midi out of my usb midi interface to the midi in on the volca, and the headphone out on the volca to the audio in on my usb audio interface.
In ableton's preferences, I went into "midi sync", and added my midi interface as an output. In "audio" I added the audio interface as an audio input device.
Then in a midi channel in session view I set "midi to" to the midi interface, and set the channel to that of the volca. Then I created the midi sequence (which could be a single drum hit).
In an audio channel, I set the "audio from" to "ext in" and clicked on monitor>in. That let me hear the audio from the volca.
The in the audio channel I clicked on a clip slot and "arm session recording"/record. That changed that track's clip slots from showing the play icon (">") to showing record ("o"). Clicking on the clip's record then started playing the midi and recording the audio to that clip. I then clicked on the master stop (at the top) and the audio clip was there for me to use/process as I wished. |

ableton live also has a device called "external instrument". You can set the midi out on your interface then have the audio out from the volca return to the same track with the "external instrument". Keeps everything together and organized in one track.

Or if you don't have an interface with midi, you can connect the volca's audio out into the mic jack on your computer. route that into an audio track in live and then record directly from the volca. |

Only problem I have with Ableton is there is always a gap at the start when recording the audio from my Volcas so I cant sync it up with VST instruments. |
