How to connect a replacement floppy to KORG i5:
i5 Board - PIN - I/O - 34pin Standard IBM-AT Interface - PIN
Side Sel - 1 - > - /SIDE1 - 32
Rd Data - 3 - < - /READDATA - 30
Wr Prt - 5 - < - /WRITEPROTECT - 28
Trk 00 - 7 - < - /TRACK00 - 26
WR Gate - 9 - > - /WRITEGATE - 24
WR Data - 11 - > - /WRITEDATA - 22
Step - 13 - > - /STEP - 20
Dir Sel - 15 - > - /DIR - 18
Motor On - 17 - > - /MOTORENABLE1 - 16
HD out - 18 - < - /DENSITYSELECT - 2
Ready - 19 - < - N/C - use 6
Disk Chg - 21 - < - /DSKCHG - 34
Drv Sel 0 - 23 - > - /DRVSELECT1 - 12
Index - 25 - < - /INDEX - 8
Power Supply:
Floppy:
GND: PIN 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, 33
GND: External connector
+5V: External connector
i5:
GND: PIN 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 20
+5V: PIN 22, 24, 26
Important:
Use only drives with READY-Signal!
It depends on the drive where to find it ;-)
(google for AMIGA replacement floppy)
Make sure the floppy is set to “drive 1”.
Add a approx. 1k – 4k7 pull-up resistor to PIN 34 of the floppy connector (not tested!)
(High must be 2,5 V min.)
or
Remove R31 on i5 board near the floppy connector
Add a 10 k pull-up resistor to PIN 34 of the floppy connector (tested, it works!)
Some drives support this feature:
Make sure that the density select signal on PIN 18 of the i5 floppy connector is
Low > HD
High > DD
or
Short cut the densitiy switch in the floppy drive
Add a 10 k pull-up resistor to PIN 2 of the floppy connector
The floppy is set to 2DD fix!
You can run floppy test procedure as described in the servicemanual. |

How to test floppy ?
global + backing seq on power on ? and after ?
