Howdy.

One of the limitations (or not depending on your view) is the length of pattern on the keys, Korg have tried to work around this with 1/2 and 1/4 speed tempo functions. The internal sequencer automatically quantises incoming notes, but I am very interested to know the maximum resolution and whether or not the 1/2 and 1/4 tempo functions affect this.

As a sound module driven from whatever external midi source I find it a touch hit and miss but still passable given the right setup and a nod to latency.

I've played around recording in at 1/4 speed and it seems to respond well to an external MIDI sequence being recorded in via a sync/record button combo on the keys.

Each time you double the pattern length, it halves the sequencer resolution.

use Flux mode and it turns quantizing off, if not it quantizes to the
start of the step - so you'll get a chord if Flux is off, and you'll get
whatever entry timing you had with Flux on.

this is where i'd like to divide the sync clock in more:
i've been running 1 step at a time using active step, which can give
16 little invividual motifs per pattern. try it: isolate one step with
Flux turned on, and add notes one by one as it loops. you'll probably
want to try this a few times before you get anything usable, and i can't
think what else i'd use Flux for (? realtime rerecording of sequence? no,
i don't think i have use for that)
when you've done one step, isolate the next one, and so on. pretty soon,
you have a selection of parts of a sequence you can rearrange, combine,
use individually. trouble is, when you sync the Keys to another Volca, it
is playing back too fast, hence wish to clock it slower.

i was wondering if a simple clock divider could be
implemented, with an on/off switch, to halve the
# of sync ticks coming in

so that it only tiggers on 0

how would you do that? a flipflop?
