i am using audacity to cut samples from an mp3. mono, 32khz. i think that is correct.
what do i export the sound file as?
mp3? 16bit PCM?
also, is there a way to smooth the end part of the cut sample so it isn't so abrupt?
thanks. |

16 bit.
You use Volca Sample don't you?
Generally cut them to the format of your sampler player.
I haven't used caustic editor or similar ,but check what the format is you importing to and use that. |

Do a short volume fade by highlighting the end of you sample ,then search about in Audacity.I forget exactly ,but it's probably in the edit list-Volume fade or edit.
Or if that is too abrupt for you ,experiment with an effect on the end.Highlight,then apply a delay maybe. I like to copy a tiny section of the end of a loop/sample, then paste it immediately afterwards a few times.so a small wave form (of the end) gets repeated maybe 10 times and becomes a sustained buzz.Then maybe effect the end of that. |

I use Audacity portable (from portableapps);
Project setting is MONO, 22050Hz, 16-Bit PCM and I
"Export as" WAV (Microsoft) 16-Bit PCM
I always have to trim off the beginning of the sample and do a fade out at the end of the sample; I always "normalize" and use compression - all done in Audacity (there are excellent HowTo-videos on YT)
I use the (standalone Version) of Caustic to get the samples from my Windows-PC to VSample (which works very well) |
