 Posted: Sun Apr 19, 2015 1:12 am Post subject: I can't get my SQ-1 to work 8x2, only 1x16 or 1x8 |

| I have my SQ-1 hooked up to my MS-20 Mini. I can't get it to play 8x2, it will only play 8x1. Channel A will play fine, but Channel B has no sound. The lights for Channel B work properly--they move--so I don't know why it's not making sound. I have gotten them both to play at the same time before and I can't do it now. The only time Channel B plays is if I have it set up as 16x1, so it plays in a straight line. Any ideas? Thanks |

How did you connect your SQ1 to MS20mini? Via Midi or CV?
If CV: did you 100% follow the instructions explained on Korg.com under SQ1-FAQs on how to connect the two? |

It is connected through CV, I followed the instructions exactly. |

What setting is the control knob on?
You do know that only some settings will play data from all 16steps ?
Can you attach a couple of pics how you have it?

KORGs SQ1-FAQ says:
• SQ-1's CV-A OUT jack -> MS-20 mini's VCO 1+2 CV IN jack
• SQ-1's GATE-A OUT jack -> MS-20 mini's TRIG IN jack
You mentioned in your positing that you did that.
So how did you connect SQ-1s CV-B out and GATE-B out with your MS20mini?
I do think that here is the problem... |

I was also thinking that that might be the problem, but as far as I know, there is no way to connect both CV A and CV B to the MS-20. I also know that I have definitely gotten this to work before. |

ADDITIONALLY to the 2 cables you already connected pls connect
SQ1 CV-B out with MS20mini VCO2 CVin
Steps 1-8 will then sequence MS20minis VCO1
steps 9-16 will sequence MS20minis VCO2
Unfortunately as the MS20mini is internally wired as it is you both oscillators will have the same gate-trigger (coming from SQ1s GateA out) |

Yes I'm finding this is a bit of a pain and not something I had anticipated before using the sq-1 with the ms20 but hey ho.

I'm also wondering why the ms20 sequence can be keyboard transposed when using the T-ext input but not when using the vco1+2 input....
Any ideas chris? You seem to be the oracle

Thanks for the "oracle" 
Anyway - I do not transpose directly on my MS20mini keyboard, I do think this is not convenient....
If I want to transpose I always go MIDI: from my Midi-Keyboard into my MidiPal (as central clock) and from there (via Midi-patchbay and/or Midi-Thru) to my other gear. (other MidiPals as sequencer, DarkTime as sequencer, Shruthi as synth, Korg R3 as synth; - they all can "transpose").
As it is right now I do not transpose the sequences coming from my SQ1.... |
