Hi everyone, i got my first piece of gear and i have question regarding synth pads on ESX-1. It is possible to create background/ambient pads 100% on ESX? To be more clear here is few examples, you can hear the background pad behind the drums:
https://soundcloud.com/aleks_ams/h-g
https://soundcloud.com/aleks_ams/morningjams
https://soundcloud.com/aleks_ams/wu04ety2fhtu
etc.

My first idea was just to create whole thing in daw and sample it directly to the esx or get tiny piece of similar sound and with help of effects turn it to long pad.

Any tips and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Without samples, the ESX is silent. You need to sample a pad or use an existing sample on the box and mutate it. You could apply effects and resample, rinse and repeat until you're happy with it. Probably easier to create a pad on a synth though.

What about waveforms? For example i have this short sample — http://vocaroo.com/i/s00Ja0xYalKu it is possible to make waveform from this, add effects and make never ending pad?

I’m very new to whole synth thing, so please excuse me if i understand something wrong.

You can make a waveform from anything by looping the sample you have over a very short time. This will give you an interesting sound but remember that you cannot play chords when doing this as the Electribe is monophonic. If you want nice pads, the best way is really to make them on an external synth and then load them in. You can even play a chord and sample that in. Adding effects can make the pad sample sound like it is longer than it really is. Use delay for this with some reverb maybe.
