Hello,

I just got my Electribe 2, and I would like to ask a question about how it plays notes. Unfortunately, I'm pretty new to the world of these things, so I'm not really sure how to ask this question.

What happens is this:
I select a Synth Oscillator such as TRIANGLE.
I go to keyboard note and play a note, e.g. C, and I hold down the pad. So now C is playing as long as I hold it down.
Then, I press another note while holding down C, e.g. E. E Plays as well, except C "Starts" playing again along with the E note.
Basically, I'm expecting something like this:
Code:

C------------>
     E------->

But what I get is this:
Code:

C----C-------->
     E-------->

Is this supposed to happen? If so, is it a limitation of the device? The Oscillator (Because it is a synth)? Or is it some configuration that I have missed?

Is there a name for this behavior as well?

Thanks

Those look like the scale list, but I'm not really playing scales.
I'm just wondering why when I hold down one pad to play a note, when I press another pad without releasing the first pad, it seems like the first pad's note "re-triggers"(?) with the second pad note I'm now pressing.

I tried on my e2 with the same oscillator and it seems to work as it should,

like
Code:
c------->
     e--->

I tried both in poly2 or poly1 mode, it's the same.
Have you tried in an empty pattern without motion sequences and ifx/mfx sends?
What's the version of your firmware?

The e2 is paraphonic. Not polyphonic. A part shares one eg for all voices. The problem you most likely have here is the eg retriggering on every key press. Change the voice assign, menu item 17, to Poly 1 and see if this solves it.

You don't really hear the retriggering without some filtering or modulation. Then you hear the difference between poly 1 and 2. If there is no shape in your sound you won't hear it.

I find that the paraphonic voicing is really only handy for creating chord stabs or pads in chord mode, step edit style.

It's basically useless for traditional poly playing with external keyboard. As soo as you play a new note on top of the old one, the volume of all notes changes to the new velocity value.

Some paraphonic synths (Korg Poly 800) have independent amp EG per voice, but retrigger the single filter/EG. That's far more natural.

Maybe they will be able to fix it one day. In the meantime, you can send MIDI to an external polyphonic synth for more natural polyphony.

Hello guys,
Turns out that it was the EG retriggering on each press!
Thanks for the information
