After months of deliberation, I finally bought the MKIII Oddy
I'd been put off by the "mini" keyboard, but I needn't have worried - it's surprisingly nice to play.
Comparing it to an original MKIII, I have to say that it's bang on the button, I can't fault it in any way (OK, I'll admit the PPC is a bit tough). I'm already considering adding aftertouch, but that depends on the keyboard mechanism (it's an easy mod for the original ARP). Sadly the gap between the PCB and front panel doesn't allow for patch breakout sockets, it's just too tight, so they may have to go on the rear panel - I'll post pics on my Flickr page as I go along.
Sharp, has there been any call for a dedicated ARP sub forum? _________________ Synth DIY Projects |

Yeah I'm surprised there hasn't been more action in a dedicated Korg forum on the Odyssey.
I've had mine pretty much since they came out. Love mine. It's pretty much a toss up between the Odyssey and my MS20 mini which I prefer to play on any given day.
They're both great. |

Well, that didn't last long - 5 days in and VCO 2 has locked up producing nothing more than a high pitched drone
Not sure if I should get a replacement or refund
EDIT - Replacement _________________ Synth DIY Projects |

I am considering one of these little arp's and maybe a monologue when the have been out for awhile. What are your thoughts on it now? Did you add the aftertouch? Still using it or has the newness won off? Thanks! |

Just got mine last week. I dont mind the keys but ive been using an electribe or an SQ-1 to sequencer it through som guitar pedals...sounds great, v different from my modern analogues. I think Ill pair it up with an MS-20 too |

Prolly the same as my other synths...its not mind blowing or anything, the "sound" has been around since 1972. But its v good for the price and Im sure its versatile enough to make it into a few of my tunes. Its not the best synth I own though...so no honeymoon Im afraid
I will say faders rather than knobs really make tweaking a joy...theres something so visual about them...strange, never expected it to be significant. |

That is an interesting observation about the faders. Thanks! |
