Hi guys,
I'm almost new to synthesizers etc. but I would be glad to know whether it is possible to "normalize" the amp level of my patches. I'm using the microkorg xl + on stage. After a concert, the audio engineer asked me whether I could normalize it because I use a lot of different patches. I could adjust the amp level individually for each patch but I think there should be an easier solution. Can any of you guys help me out?

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

The XL+ does not come with a feature to normalize the gain over all the patches. It can indeed vary a big deal over different patches.

So the only thing that's left is what you suggest (tweaking the amp of each patch to end up with more consistency over the different patches).

You could also send the output of the synth through a compressor before sending it to the PA. This helps in reducing the difference in loudness of the patches. It may colour your sound though. The audio engineer can help you on this.

Have fun.

You might want to try having a outboard limiter too.
