Hi folks,

Here is my first ever REMIX created in Cubase and predominantly featuring the (1983) Korg 'Poly 61' synthesizer (please see 'You Tube' LINK at foot of page). It is a revamp of the (1984) hit "High Energy" by soul singer Evelyn Thomas. It seems everyone is making REMIXES these days and so I may as well follow suit. The exception here though is that I am actually playing/programming the instruments (and not just pushing buttons!).

The verses are in the style of (band) 'Talking Heads', whilst the Choruses have an 'Acid Jazz' type vibe.

It is currently uploaded as 'PRIVATE' because I am still awaiting permission from the original composers to permit me to freely share it.

It's captured in '1080 HD' and as always will sound best through headphones (with respect to attention to 'Panning').

I won the 'Poly_61' a little while back on eBay. It does need some attention and hopefully a friend/electrician I know will be able to address these this summer. In any event, I really did want to put something together with the synth and so I thought a 'Pop' song from the same era would prove a fitting vehicle. Basically, everything shaded PURPLE is the Korg. To try and capture the genuine article, no EQ, FX or otherwise enhancements have been added; so therefore the tone is as is.

The ORIGINAL Bassline (on the Verses) is 2 x Yamaha 'DX21' BASSES I programmed which play along in Unison (to the original 2 x [Bass] parts). On the original, they actually do sound like 'DX' tones of some description. Similarly, I transcribed the original DRUM track and programmed 'HALion_Sonic' (Kit) to also run alongside it in Unison.

I hope I have managed to offer the 'Poly_61' some justice here! 8O

Thank you for your continued interest . . .

Best,

Paul David Seaman

Hi,

Does anyone have a list of the NAMES of what the FACTORY SOUNDS are on the Korg 'Poly_61' please? It would be very interesting and helpful to be able to know the precise descriptions. Obviously with the synth having only a numeric LED it is not possible to be certain of the genre under which each preset falls under.

Many thanks in advance . . .

Paul
