Hi! I use my microKorg to play natively, and also to control my Moog Minitaur via midi. I notice that the microKorg "grabs" the Minitaur such that, for each microKorg "voice" setting, it assigns its own parameters to the Minitaur. Such as, Filter, Resonance, oscillator settings, sustain, decay, attack, etc.

I like using these two instruments together. It creates a really nice blend. However, I'm wondering if there is an internal setting in the microKorg (such as within Global settings) that would allow me to simply switch voices on the microKorg without affecting all my parameters on the Minitaur? It would save me the time of custome tuning my Minitaur everytime I change what I'm doing with the Korg.

In other words, I want to just have my microKorg act as a simple midi note controller out to my Minitaur, via the 5-pin midi output.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

Yep, perfectly possible. Refer to p60 of the manual: MIDI filter. (Shift + Button 4)
You can disable the forwarding of some MIDI messages.
Knob 1: Program Change - your Minitaur will keep its program/patch while changing the patch on the mK
Knob 2: Control Change, changing filter parameters and so on will stay local. The only disadvantage is see for this option is that it will also block the messages for the Mod wheel.
Knob 3: Pitch bend - do not forward pitch bend events
Knob 4: SysEx messages - though, it is very unlikely that SysEx messages sent by the mK are actuallly understood by the Minitaur

So definitely Program Change must be disabled, possibly Control Change as well, in particular when you do quite some tweaking to your mK patch while playing. If not, you can keep it on, which makes the Mod wheel also working towards the Minitaur.

Enjoy!
