Hi all.

I use Garageband a Casio Privia as a MIDI controller. I like to make beats and noisy ambient music. As a beatmaker, I'm into Flying Lotus and Knxwledge. As a noisemaker, I'm into Merzbow. Those are the kinds of artists I want to sound like.

When I'm doing ambient stuff, I like to manipulate effects live by clicking on an effect in Garageband (reverb, echo, bitcrusher, distortion) and playing with the parameters. Sometimes I also play with the Visual EQ in a pretty violent way, like peaking the low mid and dragging it up and down the spectrum to get a big swoosh.

I'd like to be able to do these kinds of things with a controller with knobs and sliders instead of on my computer. I've been looking at the Nanokontrol2 because it's a cheap and easy way to play with levels and I've read that you can assign the controls to other things like effects, but I've also read that if you want to play with effects you should go with something more robust. What do you suggest?
