Can anyone help me create a decent howling wind noise? (using original microkorg)
I've tried playing around with noise, with a resonant filter, and modified it with the cutoff, but I have had no success yet.
Thanks in advance,

stuck.

I had a great howling wind patch. It was actually supposed to be the seaside.

Unfortunately I don't have my microKorg nor the patch files any more, so its not terribly useful. But your post brought back some memories.

Because it's a noise patch, you can use both timbres to generate noise in a layer, then you have two filters to use for various howls using the resonance and center points.

I know it's an old thread, but I landed here searching for some instructions. I ended up making this simple patch for howling wind.

Howling Wind Patch
____SETTINGS:____
Initialize the sound on the MicroKorg by pressing SHIFT + 3 and then 3 again.

SYT - SGL
Pitch: 0 - 0 - 5 - 5 - 0
Osc1: no5 - 30 - 29 - / - /
Osc2: SQU - rn9 - 0 - 0 - /
Mixer: 127 - 61 - 5 - / - /
Filter: 12.L - 44 - 54 - 0 - 0
Filter EG: 20 - 64 - 127 - 127 - ON
AMP: 127 - CNT - 0 - OFF
AMP EG: 51 - 64 - 127 - 102 - ON
LFO 1: SAW - OFF - OFF - 10 - /
LFO 2: SIN - OFF - OFF - 0 - /

Patch 1: MOD - no5 - 9 - / - /
Patch 2: MOD - Cut - 10 - / - /
Patch 3: LF1 - Ptc - 10 - / - /
Patch 4: LF1 - 2.tn - 20 - / - /
Mod FX: FL9 - 5 - 16 - / - /

Press SHIFT + WRITE and then WRITE again to save the sound to the current slot.
