|
|
Hello out there!! Just wondering if anyone has ever encountered an audio problem with X5DR korg module. Always has been a great little module, but suddenly at a gig, it decided to stop talking..I tried everything from checking all the outputs including the earphones, but no luck. If I REALLY crank up the volume on my mixer from the headphone output I can just about hear some music playing in the distance. It lights up indicating the midi is being properly received, but the audio is way too faint. I own 3 of the the same modules and they've all bee through the mill, but keep on ticking, except for this one. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

It's getting on it years, open it up and see if there are any caps that have leaked. |

Took the X5DR. Apart looking to see if there anything physically damaged but visually nothing..still perplexed as to why the sound suddenly disappeared..as mentioned, midi indicated but no sound ? |

Capacitors can fail in various manners, some obvious to the eye, some not. Bad capacitors can leak corrosive electrolyte, which with surface mount types can "hide" under the cap. That electrolyte sometimes erodes printed circuit traces.
What does "suddenly disappeared" mean? Did it occur at the time the X5DR was turned on, or did it happen while playing?
Do the demo songs play at normal levels? _________________ Korg: T3EX, 05R/W | Yamaha: Motif XF6 and XS6, A3000V2, A4000, YS200 | Fender Chroma Polaris | Roland U-220 | Etc. |

Thanks for your reply. It actually started from one day to the next. Was working fine on on a Friday, then on Saturday it just decided to konk out. Check all the cables both outputs and headphones, tried the demos also, but same results. If I play either a midi or the demo and really crank it up through my mixer, you can just about hear it playing..and as mentioned the midi receiving light is flashing when playing midis.
I'll check the caps again. |
