And they're off!

Right out of the stalls, it's MPC Standalone, jockeyed by Federal Leakage. Coming up fast on the outside is Odd Gadget in gold silks from the KORG stables, but MPC is ahead by two lengths.

Rubix Gopiano is bailed up between the Kurzweil and Yamaha entries as they head for the first turn ...

Settling down as they enter the turn, MPC Standalone is still in the lead, with Odd Gadget keeping pace two lengths back. Rubix Gopiano is trying to break from the pack but the outsider at forty-four to one, Percussa's Synthor is coming up strongly along the rail.

Back in the pack, Kurzweil and Yamaha's horses hang in side by side, keeping each other company while Eight Quanta from Elektron extends her stride to move up along the outside as her jockey uses his heels. Full Kontakt and Artistia are neck and neck with Cownoise, bringing the black and silver silks through the second furlong...

Entering the long straight, MPC Standalone is still in the lead, but Odd Gadget is now only one length behind, urged on by Grand Stage's heels. Percussa's Synthor is trying to match the pace, but Eight Quanta has found an impressive turn of speed with Digitakt's encouragement, Eight Quanta has overtaken Rubix Gopiano. Eight Quanta passes Percussa's Synthor!

Further back, Kurzweil and Yamaha's entries are still in the pack, with Full Kontakt and Artistia. Cownoise is dropping back a little, and Revision picks up speed out of the turn, dueling for position with Deepthoughts!

Coming down the straight it's MPC Standalone, but Odd Gadget and Eight Quanta are making it a three horse race. Grand Stage uses the whip, and Odd Gadget is only half a length off the pace, with Eight Quanta a head behind, and Percussa's Synthor sticking to the rail in fourth position.

Disklavier pushes her way out of the pack, and Rubix Gopiano forges ahead now that the way is cleared. Artistia is trying hard, but may be flagging. Cownoise and Full Kontakt are in the back now that Raspberry Traktion has pushed past Crafty Mode.

In the lead, MPC Standalone is hanging in with magnificent form, but how much longer? Odd Gadget is challenging for the lead with Eight Quanta fighting hard for second place! Percussa's Synthor may still be in the money, but Disklavier is pushing forward further from the rail!

Coming into the route's second turn the front runner, MPC Standalone bears for the rail while Odd Gadget and Eight Quanta challenge for the lead, but MPC Standalone keeps going! Eight Quanta is neck-and-neck with Odd Gadget, half a length off the pace!

Synthor is dropping back, but Raspberry Traktion is showing a late turn of speed as her jockey shakes her up! Raspberry Traktion is going all out round the clubhouse turn! Raspberry Traktion has passed Percussa's Synthor! Raspberry Traktion has passed Deepthoughts!

Synthor is weakening, now behind Revision and Deepthoughts, and further back we have Artistia, Crafty Mode, Full Kontakt and Cownoise...

And now in the home stretch, it's MPC Standalone hugging the rail, barely staying ahead of Odd Gadget and Eight Quanta! Raspberry Traktion is coming on strong up the outside! Then it's Deepthoughts and Revision running before the stands then Synthor, but in the lead MPC Standalone is flying down the track! Odd Gadget is weakening! But so is Eight Quanta! One furlong left, and MPC Standalone is ahead by a length while Odd Gadget, Raspberry Traktion and Eight Quanta head for the pole together! It's Raspberry Traktion! Odd Gadget! Raspberry Traktion is gaining on MPC Standalone, but not fast enough, MPC Standalone hangs on to win the 2017 Winter NAMM Composers' Sweepstakes, with a place for Raspberry Traktion, Odd Gadget barely pipping Eight Quanta for the third place, then Deepthoughts, Revision, Disklavier, Rubix Gopiano, Synthor, Crafty Mode, Artistia, Full Kontakt, Cownoise and Short Timer bringing up the rear.

What a magnificent showing of strength and endurance from MPC Standalone, the favourite at five to four against, but a complete surprise from Raspberry Traktion. Down the odds at sixty to one, a place bet for Raspberry Traktion will pay back handsomely, and Odd Gadget a strong performance. Another furlong, and Raspberry Traktion might have taken the lead, but MPC Standalone was unbelievable, in top form from the moment the gates opened.
